I've got a ton but...this one stands out:

"If a man empties his purse into his head, no one can take it from him."

Benjamin Franklin.

Lately I've been drawn to a line in a Mary Oliver poem:

Tell me, what is it you plan to do with your one wild and precious life?

"They went with songs to the battle....
They were young"

is part of a poem "In Flanders Fields" written during the first world war, but it applies to life as well. The older I get, the more I feel that life can be a burden, with the young appreciating it more - or they are more naïve - or more hopeful.

Just saw one over the weekend.

Men learn in 3 different ways
Some learn by reading
Some learn by observing
The others learn by peeing on the electric fence

I found this amusing for a reason. When Gary was young they moved to a horse ranch. His older brother told him to pee on the fence. He never forgot that lesson.

Yes, I am crazy about feathered creatures. I have a dozen chickens, 3 ducks, 5 geese, and 2 parakeets.

Revise that number. Just got 14 new chicks and 5 turkeys.

I used to have a foam rubber soda can holder with this on it: I can explain it to you, but I can't understand it for you.

Arguing with an idiot is like playing chess with a pigeon. It will shit all over the board and strut around as if it won.
