Labour leader Jeremy Corbyn says he will take part in a seven-way BBC general election debate later tonight.

Lib Dem leader Tim Farron, UKIP's Paul Nuttall, SNP deputy leader Angus Robertson, Green co-leader Caroline Lucas and Plaid Cymru leader Leanne Wood will participate.

Theresa May has refused to take part in any debates, so Home Secretary Amber Rudd will be representing the Tories.

Labour had said that Mr Corbyn would not attend unless Mrs May was there.

Confirming he would be taking part, Mr Corbyn criticised the Tories for what he called "a stage-managed arms-length campaign".

"Refusing to join me in Cambridge tonight would be another sign of Theresa May's weakness, not strength," he added. he is correct

Depending which poll you believe they have a healthy lead but its falling.

However the latest one-model suggest a hung parliament

Now, if the 6 parties had any sense they would rip into Amber Rudd RWNJ party

BBC debate: Theresa May defends no-show after Corbyn U-turn

Theresa May has defended her absence from this evening's TV general election debate, saying she is taking questions "up and round the country" instead.
Mrs May faced repeated questions after Labour leader Jeremy Corbyn changed his position and said he would take part.

The Lib Dems, UKIP, SNP, Green Party and Plaid Cymru are also on the panel for the seven-way BBC debate in Cambridge, which starts at 19:30 BST.
Home Secretary Amber Rudd will take part for the Tories.

My view: various reasons, but a few of the most important are a) she has not just a manifesto, but a real-life record, to defend; b) everyone else will be more interested in attacking her than each other - so she'll get ganged-up on, c) the subconscious message is conveyed that she's only 'equal to all the others' rather than, as PM, aloof and superior thus, somewhat 'above arguing with the plebs'. Those three reasons apply to any incumbent PM. But the added reason, this time round, is that there's more of a progressive anti-Tory alliance vibe - people are much more inclined to be first-and-foremost anti-Tory than *pro* their own preferred progressive party. She's got something to lose by not engaging with her opponents in such a setting, but more to lose if she does. Or at least that's how Central Office will have judged it.

I think the main reason is that she has no reason to.

With the gap closing fast in the polls between Lab and Con, and Corbyn now agreeing to debate with the others, that's somewhat less true.

Possibly (and I'd love to see Corbyn do a Trump), but inside her head, she's already won the election, so she has no interest in taking part in a debate.

Do you think so? I've been hearing rumours that the Tories are getting jittery now. The latest poll prediction by YouGov suggests the Govt might lose its majority. Other pollsters have worked out a bigger lead for the Tories, partly on account of their factoring it in that young people won't go out and actually vote. But there's a feeling that, this time round, they might get out of bed and do it this time.

I spent the decade and a half up up to 97 watching various pollsters insisting that there was no way the Conservatives could maintain a majority, and that Foot/Kinnock/Smith would be forming a new labour government the morning after the election.
Turned out that Labour had to acquire a party leader who was to the right of some Conservatives to get elected, so I can't really say I'm that optimistic about Corbyn's prospects.

There you go again with the negative waves, WM. :-(

She is very bad at it.
