I bought weaveworld at heathrow airport back in 88, I read it on the plane, the day I moved to canada(preggers with a toddler) I just got another copy because the old one had been read too many times. My youngest is now reading it. And has asked for more books.

I found a copy of the first edition of Weaveworld in a charity shop the other month. (Not sadly that valuable, as it huge print run: it was pushed and marketed as the book to break Barker into the big time, and it did.) Didn't know they were filming it, though. Hopefully the flick'll be more Hellraiser or Cabal and less Lord Of Illusions of Rawhead Rex. How old's your youngest, Lucy? Barker's two out and out horror novels might be a bit offputting if they're drawn to mashup of CS Lewis and David Lindsay in Weaveworld. (Mind you, that cuts both ways: I've met people who love him as a horror writer but can't suffer the fantasy stuff...)

From what I can figure, CW are making it into a series, which means it could be freakin awesome, but the book affected me ....the magic of the carpet and the world within it....ha. Oh my youngest isnt a baby anymore, hes 26:) But he grew up with my books, but weaveworld got lost in a move, I think he has read all the big versions, I know he has bought more of the books of blood, and he isnt into graphic novels per se, He also picked up my love for Michael Slade books, Preston and Child, He liked James Rollins, so Ive read more than a few of those. He bought me Erik Larsens book for mothers day, about the Chicago Exhibition in the late 1890s along with the story of HH Holmes. I got him started on GOT, the books first then the seasons. Their books make "red dragon" look like "see spot run" And I loved the hannibal series. Red Dragon came out in 81 Michael Slade is the pen name of Canadian novelist Jay Clarke, a lawyer who has participated in more than 100 criminal cases and who specializes in criminal insanity, and several additional authors. the first book came out in 84
