When the fuk did this thread get out off hand?

Greta75!

You do not understand housing over here - fuked if I do.
All tenants would have paid rent to the council, or corrupt greedy landlords, or some hedge fund company, or company etc - who was it any of you know?

If the fire was started by a fridge it could be a design flaw, an appliance with a history of doing this with a belated recall notice.

Allegedly it would have cost them £5000 to use different cladding so £5000 divided by how many apartments were there 100ish? = £50 an apartment.

That particular cladding also had a history.

What was Panoramas take on it, I never watched it but they are usually very very good...cladding, with a known history of infernos, turned a previous safe building in to a death trap?

They've identified another couple of buildings that went up the same way with the cladding spreading the fire, yep.

Yes, there was at least one cladding fire in the UK in 2009 mentioned on Panorama (plus the ones in Dubai & Australia etc)..

I dont know where dumb-as-a-rock Greta comes up with this shite.. the rents in Grenfell Tower were 2,000/month so whats that shite about it all being free? The building also had units that were privately owned so certainly not "free", in fact costing 250,000pounds 2 years ago and by the pics they were quite nice.. there may have been some subsidized housing as there were handicapped people and seniors living there.. those people likely died in the fire unless they were on lower levels..

More info on the building itself..

It's a lot easier to villify dead ethnics if they're all scroungers on benefits who are getting their rent paid by the tax payer, sadly.

WickedsDesire -> RE: London fire: What we know so far about Grenfell Tower (6/21/2017 11:17:54 AM)

sold or rented out by KCTMO - I did wonder

my mother was an immigrant, couldnt speak a word of English but she worked her ass off.. 3 of her best friends also immigrants, also couldnt speak English when they arrived.. all 3 of them became nurses and worked hard to make a decent life (in Canada).. any immigrants I have met are hard working and not scroungers and if they get any help/benefits its not for long (I think in Canada a refugee gets help for 1 year, from what I have read)... I guess that is part of why I am so pro-immigration.. It angers me when I read shite from the likes of Greta and Trump, etc.. [:'(]

Wouldn't it be great if you big hearted Canadians could take all of the illegals and Muslims who are in the United States into your homes

I wonder if theres any way we could arrange that

How many are you willing to take personally, in your own home

WickedsDesire -> RE: London fire: What we know so far about Grenfell Tower (6/21/2017 12:12:49 PM)

Well, at least it will keep them away from you gun nutters, did you look at the pretty second graph you paranoid fuk spit?

You are wiping yourself out at the rate off 700 American Jackal upon American jackal to 1 from an insane mooslelamb. I will take my chances with all of them, and non of you all.

Wouldn't it be great if they understood that legal immigrants (who virtually everyone supports, including Trump) and illegal immigrants are not the same thing?

Maybe if she had Mexican narcoterrorist gangs in her neighborhood she would have half a clue about things are down here in many places

Musicmystery -> RE: London fire: What we know so far about Grenfell Tower (6/21/2017 12:40:35 PM)

You are also ignorant regarding the extremely serious and infamous problems many United States cities face from gangs of Mexican illegals?

That doesn't surprise

He lives in the real world where they have fake news, not Trumpton, and he probably works a professional job where he doesn't have to worry about his boss firing him and employing an illegal who'll work for a quarter of minimum wage instead.

Musicmystery -> RE: London fire: What we know so far about Grenfell Tower (6/21/2017 2:13:35 PM)

A Google search shows a lot of shit from the usual right-wing rumor mills.

But "Mexican narcoterrorist gangs" are the province of South America.

Unless you just make shit up. Then whatever.

Are there gangs? Sure. Of all sorts. Viva the guns.

But you already backpedaled from "narcoterrorists" to "Mexican illegals."

Btw, the solution to US drug crime is and always has been simple: stop being the world's largest customer for drugs.

I do wonder just what sort of tax revenues they could get from farming cocaine and smack domestically, rather than having the money leave the country and fund criminal cartels and those nasty moslem jihadists there's been such a fuss about since the American media finally noticed that they exist in 2001?
A fair bit, I'm thinking. It'd pay for a healthcare system with a single payer provision and then some, wouldn't it?

Even this leftist rag admits the truth about Democrats and illegals:

How the Democrats Lost Their Way on Immigration

In the past decade, liberals have avoided inconvenient truths about the issue.

The myth, which liberals like myself find tempting, is that only the right has changed. In June 2015, we tell ourselves, Donald Trump rode down his golden escalator and pretty soon nativism, long a feature of conservative politics, had engulfed it. But that’s not the full story. If the right has grown more nationalistic, the left has grown less so. A decade ago, liberals publicly questioned immigration in ways that would shock many progressives today.

In 2005, a left-leaning blogger wrote, “Illegal immigration wreaks havoc economically, socially, and culturally; makes a mockery of the rule of law; and is disgraceful just on basic fairness grounds alone.” In 2006, a liberal columnist wrote that “immigration reduces the wages of domestic workers who compete with immigrants” and that “the fiscal burden of low-wage immigrants is also pretty clear.” His conclusion: “We’ll need to reduce the inflow of low-skill immigrants.” That same year, a Democratic senator wrote, “When I see Mexican flags waved at proimmigration demonstrations, I sometimes feel a flush of patriotic resentment. When I’m forced to use a translator to communicate with the guy fixing my car, I feel a certain frustration.”

The blogger was Glenn Greenwald. The columnist was Paul Krugman. The senator was Barack Obama.

Prominent liberals didn’t oppose immigration a decade ago. Most acknowledged its benefits to America’s economy and culture. They supported a path to citizenship for the undocumented. Still, they routinely asserted that low-skilled immigrants depressed the wages of low-skilled American workers and strained America’s welfare state. And they were far more likely than liberals today are to acknowledge that, as Krugman put it, “immigration is an intensely painful topic … because it places basic principles in conflict.”

...

A larger explanation is political. Between 2008 and 2016, Democrats became more and more confident that the country’s growing Latino population gave the party an electoral edge. To win the presidency, Democrats convinced themselves, they didn’t need to reassure white people skeptical of immigration so long as they turned out their Latino base. “The fastest-growing sector of the American electorate stampeded toward the Democrats this November,” Salon declared after Obama’s 2008 win. “If that pattern continues, the GOP is doomed to 40 years of wandering in a desert.”
