Musicmystery -> Adviser says Donald Trump wants to resign (6/24/2017 11:39:43 AM)

Who knows whether these anonymous things are true, and there's a lot of opinion reported as fact (like that the demise is inevitable). But if it is, I can certainly appreciate Trump's dilemma, not wanting to go out a loser, but not having any good opening.

Adviser says Donald Trump wants to resign

The demise of Donald Trump’s presidency is now inevitable, with his exit merely being a matter of when and how. Will the Republican Congress throw him overboard to try to avoid being wiped out in the midterms? Will a Democratic Congress impeach him after the midterms? Will Mike Pence and the cabinet invoke the 25th Amendment? According to one of Trump’s own advisers, Trump wants to resign – he just has hesitations about doing it.

All the way down in the last full paragraph of a new Politico article (link), you’ll find this reveal: “But Trump, too, is cognizant of the comparison to Nixon, according to one adviser. The president, who friends said does not enjoy living in Washington and is strained by the demanding hours of the job, is motivated to carry on because he ‘doesn’t want to go down in history as a guy who tried and failed,’ said the adviser. ‘He doesn’t want to be the second president in history to resign.'”

In other words, Donald Trump very clearly wants to resign. His only hangup, according to what he’s telling his own advisers, is how history will end up portraying him. He’s only five months into his term, and he’s still clueless about the realities of politics. So perhaps he hasn’t figured out that his historically low popularly will never recover. And perhaps he’s in denial about how his scandals will ultimately force him out of office one way or the other. But the key here is that he wants out, which is half the battle when it comes to getting rid of him.

How much worse do things have to get before Donald Trump figures out that his presidency has already failed, and that the longer he remains in office, the worse history will judge him? That’s unclear. But by his own words he already wants out, which means we’re closer to his exit than was previously known.

As much as I dislike the man, Donald Trump, I find no joy or relief in what this last election and few years has revealed.

I've long believed that America would benefit from a President who was a brilliant businessman rather than a politician. I've never considered the man, Donald Trump to be this - but apparently many people in America did. So, I hoped for better. I've also come to the realization that it is unlikely anyone of character and ethics can survive long in politics without compromising and playing a dirty game. Again, I am not attributing these characteristics to the Mr. Trump. I've always considered him a Grifter, and wondered if maybe a Grifter could maneuver his or her way through politics and make some changes for the good.

Now, speaking of him as The President, an office I hold respect for, I find no joy in the breaking and shame of any individual who was voted into that high office.

It all sucks.

His demise has been reported to be "inevitable" since the day he came down the escalator and announced

Just like Hillary's election was "inevitable"

Nobody's stopping him.
If the wanker's only hung on this long because he's too vain to admit failure on being the (worst) president (since Hoover), failing to resign doesn't actually make him look any better, does it?

I'm shocked you can still have respect for that office knowing that Donald Trump has held it.
I know I'll never take it seriously again.

Not sure how anyone can hold respect for a gubmint office since they have been about creating a system that converts our rights and wealth to theirs since its inception, but I can appreciate your logic and reasoning as far superior to the usual leftee v rightee worthless back biting you typically see out here. Rather than dealing with issues they deal with parties, which is seriously bad juju which is part of the problem not the solution.

I agree btw, trump had no idea how dirty things get when being forced to feed everyone at the trough with their fingers in the pie who stand to make trillions from the health care [or]deal.

Worse we only need to look at social security, va services, medicare etc to know where it will end up in 20 years no matter what they come up with because of all the fingers in the pie waiting for profits on their investments.

I have love and respect for it and America; much like I do my family, even when I don't always approve of the choices they make.

First he's got to be smart enough to figure that out.

Right, so this is a non-story, then.

He will answer for his fuking sins. All of them - so many eh! And everyone of the orange strange enablers.
And whomst amongst us would not agree that is for the very best?

Now, you lot all know me as a romantic devil and how I normally favour the tar and feathering, birching thence hurling into the fiery volcano hoaching with peckish piranhas
so they may never know the light of day again.

Now,
hear me out.
I am now favouring flayed alived and then put to sleep with a big brick - for ever the humanitarian is the wicked...I think we would all agree!

I'd love to be a fly on the wall to hear how anyone can have respect for gubmint (the office) which makes choices most people do not approve of most of the time. Its one thing when they make choices that suck and its completely another with the choices they continue by subterfuge to undermine our rights, on the larger scope, bigger picture.

We started out as kings and conducted ourselves according to the laws of nations now being reduced to mere vassals thanks to their briliance and our ignorance. I cant find respect for any part of that.

MrRodgers -> RE: Adviser says Donald Trump wants to resign (6/24/2017 1:37:22 PM)

He's as likely come to terms with the reality of the job, how difficult if not impossible it is to get his more radical campaign promises through, or even if he cares anymore. Then there is all of the intrigue, his age, and that he doesn't need this and will be 74 if he even makes it 4 years. (his wife didn't want him to run and family...didn't care)

However, if he's worried about a 'Nixonian' legacy, he should imagine going through a trial, rather than resign. After all, he's not in civil court over his actions before he was elected or got a blow job in the oval so.....? Ya'know, those real impeachable offenses.

Real0ne -> RE: Adviser says Donald Trump wants to resign (6/24/2017 1:39:53 PM)

He was voted in because more people are waking up to the fact they are getting fucked by our damobocratic kleptocracy and want the wsamp drained, you on the other hand would have preferrd the criminal clinton syndicate so you could laugh as we sink deeper in to the abyss of corruption beyone anything trump could imagine doing.

Well yes but because soc. sec. was stolen and Medicare is being swindled. It's more than just all about money. It's money over country.

Trumpcare is a repeal of Obamacare in only the removal of the mandate which is a disguise of the decimation or more of Medicare, Medicaid, defunding PPH, and a huge tax cut.

This throws the poor, sick (older) back into the ER for their health care or [they] could just do the patriotic thing...and just die.
