BoscoX No, colluding is not a crime (and you are not a law professor) You seem to be misinformed. According to this NBC report: ""There's a strong case that Donald Trump Jr. violated the prohibition on knowingly soliciting a contribution from a foreign national," said Brendan Fischer of Campaign Legal Center, a nonpartisan campaign finance reform group. The relevant statute — 52 U.S.C. 30121, 36 U.S.C. 510 — bars foreign nationals from making any "contribution or a donation of money or other thing of value" in connection with any election. It also says no American "shall knowingly solicit, accept or receive from a foreign national any contribution or donation" in connection with any election. http://www.nbcnews.com/politics/politics-news/did-donald-trump-jr-break-any-laws-when-he-met-n782026 You might benefit from reading the entire article, which explores the issues in much greater depth. On my reading, given that Trump Jnr, and Kushner and Manafort all went to the meeting expecting to receive something they considered of value to their election campaign, they may have placed themselves in legal jeopardy. The final determination is up to the courts, but after taking into account their own statements (and their history of concealing the true purpose of the meeting) there does appear to be a prima facie case for them to answer. Regardless of Trump Jnr's particular circumstances, there seems to be little doubt that soliciting or accepting a "contribution" from a foreign national or govt to influence a US election is a criminal offence. Was there ever any follow up about the little twat sending begging letters to British MPs in the hope that they'd donate to his father's campaign fund last year, come to that? That story seems to have been completely forgotten now, I've noticed.
