Our crimes are low because there is no mercy to criminals. Generally even foreigners who come to Singapore are terrified of our law. And they are more well behaved here. It's the feeling of if you so much as drop an ash from your cigarette or spit, a police would jump out of the bush and arrest you. Which is kinda true. Many undercover cops everywhere. They aren't in uniforms when they are patrolling. They just blend in, which I think should be the way, as if people see cops, they would have like head start or notice.

I was at a pub and two dumb caucasian male drop their pants and had a wanking competition. And plain clothes officers appeared and cuffed them out of no where. They probably got deported.

My brother actually got in trouble for throwing his cigarette bud into a drain. Plain clothes officer too. $350 fine on the spot.

I don't believe crimes goes up if you call out a certain group of people for something. I would say, it lowers crimes because the authorities are saying, "We are watching you closely. Don't fuck up!"

We did have believe it or not, have a South American gang syndicate who flew all the way into Singapore back and forth just to rob homes here, the big houses. But they got caught.

Believe it or not having a wank in a pub is illegal here too.

Our littering laws are no so draconian however.

No, but they can do you for public exposure when you whip it out, even if the ejaculate isn't an issue once you've finished.

I can't help but get the feeling that it is a sign of the breakdown in community respect, against a background of falling real wages, austerity and the demonisation of minorities.

I've heard it said - though I've not been able to find the clear figures to support it as yet, admittedly - that crime generally has gone up under Tory governments. But I should think the 20,000 drop in police numbers since 2009 might also have something to do with it.

True - did you know the numbers for Police Scotland remained the same since 2009?

Our lands require less policing than England, or certainly your three major cities in times of height - I see that.

That's before I enter into administration and who the burden of that paper work & time falls upon

In my wee town - they shut our Police station about 8 years ago

population 10 000 - 20 000 if you include the surrounding other wee towns

heh peon who was the home secretary again responsible for the decline?

Except, it would just be disruption and they wouldn't get jailed for it. Probably just taken away for one night and let off with a warning.

They just need to take away everybody's knives and lorries or anything that could be used as a club, and anything with acid in it

No, quite the opposite: they need to tool up every man, woman and child old enough to walk, with an assault rifle. That will foster a loving community feeling between all Britons and, eventually, a happier, more tranquil UK.

Yes. Indeed! A weapon for anyone old enough to walk is the way to go. Think of the jobs it will create and the boost it will give to the faltering UK personal arms industry.

After a few years, you will have a body count to match that of the USA and you will finally understand what a free society is all about.

My mistake - that first sentence was from Longwayhome. Should have been in quotes.

A far worse bodycount, probably. Because a lot of us say "please" and "thank you" over here, the Americans seem unable to grasp the degree of class and other social resentments that are endemic over here. There'd be a spree killing that makes Bernard Goetz look like a buddhist whenever somebody got laid off from a service sector job, and I shudder to think what'd happen if social workers went into sink estates armed.
