So,in just 2 day's,I lost my car & was laid off from my job..I'd buy my self some whiskey, but unfortunately my last paycheck bounced again, and now I owe the bank $300.....My former employer is completely broke, and wont be able to repay me for at least another week, that is if he doesn't just close up shop and skip town(which has happened to me before with a different job).I'm doing odd jobs to fill the void, but it has become obvious to me that I can't do manual labor like I used to any more. Did I mention it's 120 degrees outside, and now I'm digging ditches,again...oh,and I'm commuting by bike now,it's a 10 mile commute,to a job where I perform manual labor...in the heat........for $5 and hour.........Fffffffukishima

Some one wanna mail me some whiskey,I could really use some whiskey....

PM me and I'll give ya my address so you can send me some whiskey...

ps.I'm trying to start a thing where people use the word fukishima as a curse word

Maybe you could demand some money from his estate if he dies before fleeing with his money?
Shitawful stroke of luck you're having. Hope things pick up soon.

Man I am sorry to hear that, life can really be a shit sandwich at times.

As an aside, when I hear about things like this, I always get a little smile thinking about all the people who make fun of me for having been a bar wench, It takes me about a day to get a job, no matter where in the country I am. Supply and demand baby, supply and demand.

It shouldn't be hard to get a real job these days. There are jobs everywhere.

Actually that matters little. Have you applied for a job waiting tables? It is one of the easiest jobs to get, and also one of the best in terms of employment opportunities, there are always wait jobs available, and if you have even 2 or 3 years experience you can pretty much go to any town or city and get a job within a week, and if you have nearly 15 years experience, like I do, then you can get a job within 3 or 4 hours of starting to look for one.

Just for fun, I am going to apply for 10 jobs in my general area (rural Northern Ontario, so not a hotbed of employment opportunities), and see what the response is. I will do the applying tomorrow morning, and note the time, and that way the results can be judged appropriately.

To make it more interesting, I will get Sara's sister (17 years old and no experience at all) to apply at the same places.

Well did you apply for waiter jobs?

yes,yes I applied for all the waiter jobs in town

FYI,there's like,7 restaurants that even have wait staff out here, and 4 of those are strictly family run.

it's the desert...in summer.....in a government budget gutted recession....there are alota businesses who just close during the summer out here

the restaurant I was working at was making $6k a day just a few months ago,we're....um...( guess I should say they now) they are barely making a grand and a half a day now.

It might have been a different story if my boss hadn't left an expensive idiot in charge while he was away working festivals, but that's a whole other issue...

I dunno,I think I'm bummed out cause I actually liked this job .

I've worked alota shit service jobs,it's almost the only thing out here, but I actually liked working at this one.

I respected at least half my coworkers, and didn't completely hate the other half.Do you know how rare that is? It was a gawd damn paradise.

If I got a penny for every employer I've had that bounced pay roll,I'd have at least a nickle by now...

But rarely have I worked with a crew that wasn't entirely lobotomy test dummies, high class trailer trash, spoiled teens and probation drop outs.

Sigh,oh well,I have a gig for now,it's not paying much,but at least I got some'n come'n.filling for unemployment should be a breeze

just frustrating to be right back in the same spot I seem to end up in every gawd damn couple of years

Move to SE Wisconsin. 3.2 percent unemployment. Trades are begging for people to train. Amazon hiring 1500 people on the spot. Foxconn building here soon with 3000 new jobs just to start. Housing costs is a fraction of what it is in CA.

Yeah,I don't exactly live in big money cali,I live in the poor corner of cali.My house, which aint small, might get 30k,if I fixed it up a bunch(old weird house, built in 40's and it show's.Half the electrical that I haven't replaced yet is still the asbestos covered stuff, and that's not even the biggest problem). Heck, get 17k together and I can get you a two story beheamouth on tax auction out here.

My house has character, I like it and I aint sell'n it,I aint move'n neither, just having a tough time which I'll trudge through like allways,I could just really really use some damn whisky right bout now lol

Then you should sell that dump for what you can get for it, move to WI and get a real job that pays real money.
