And make sure the seat's lifted while you're in there?
[;)]
(I suspect we may have to agree to differ on the whole dragon thing...)

I take it you're not having the Peter Jackson Hobbit films because Smaug is voiced by one of the most English sounding actors about?

If a dragon can speak at all, then it *must* be in a British accent. Goes without saying. Even Komodo dragons probably talk like John Hurt or Sean Connery when there aren't any humans listening.

Clearly you have not seen the Japanese movies in which speaking dragons are a main character plot, while they do use Asian actors with accents, it is absolutely hilarious when a Japanese dragon is speaking with a Chinese accent when you consider both people consider the other something other than human.

I have not seen such films, I must admit. Though, thinking about it ... a few *really* weird things I saw when I was just a small boy .... But I could imagine the Japanese giving the dragons really evil Chinese accents. Heh ...

Incidentally, where do Welsh dragons figure in all of this? The dragon is the national symbol of Wales and is on their flag. I'm pretty damned sure, though, that I've never heard a dragon speaking in Welsh or even in English with a Welsh accent.

We having Welsh ancestors, and having a few friends that are Welsh, and considering how heavy the accent is in some people, who but a Welshman would under stand a Welsh dragon?

But then why do all English speaking dragons sound like they are educated at Oxford (or whatever university you want to choose) why not a British dragon with a cockney accent?

I suspect it's Lesley Phillips' fault.

That was NOT something I had to see with only a half cup of coffee in my system.

Now, for posting that tidbit (knowing I would read it before finishing my first pot of coffee, which proves you are part of the secret society that is working against me) I am going to have to hunt you down and hand cuff you to Greta and Tamaka.

Fond memories of that Listerine advert. :)

I think the idea of dragons - and other wicked beasties - having Brit accents goes back to Shere Khan (aka George Sanders) in Disney's Jungle Book.

DesFIP -> RE: Game of thrones proves one thing (okay a bunch of things) (8/20/2017 11:37:17 AM)

It's obvious why dragons don't have Cockney accents. There's not enough room for a dragon to spread out within hearing distance of Bow Bells.

Dragons are not wicked beasts, just misunderstood and eccentric, as well as being prone to very mild bursts of anger.

I'd not thought of that.
Now I think about this more, did the dragon in Danny Kaye Brothers Grimm film get any dialogue?

God. Too long since I last saw that. The only thing I remember from it is 'Wonderful, wonderful Copenhagen'.

WhoreMods -> RE: Game of thrones proves one thing (okay a bunch of things) (8/21/2017 4:49:03 AM)

I'm pretty sure it was Terry-Thomas who doesn't kill the dragon, so I might be thinking of him...

jlf1961 -> RE: Game of thrones proves one thing (okay a bunch of things) (8/21/2017 6:14:20 AM)

The King of the North turned a dragon into a white walker....

How the hell do you kill an undead dragon?

Fenix down or the revive spell in the SNES Final Fantasies, iirc. (Which let white mages get a one hit kill on something for a change.)
I'm not sure if healing spells have the same effect on Dracoliches that they have on other undead in D&D, though.

Use the ballista with Dragon Glass or Valyrian steel Bolts, Valyrian steel is forged with dragon fire, she still has two, She also has Gendry to forge it, also all that dragon glass will kill the undead.
Im not positing , its just a though?
Not giving up spoilers either, I hates em my preshous

jlf1961 -> RE: Game of thrones proves one thing (okay a bunch of things) (8/29/2017 5:30:07 AM)

Well the undead dragon took down the wall...

Jon and dragon mommy had a romantic sea cruise (so much for they cant hook up because she is his aunt)

Bran discovers thanks to Sam, that there was no kidnap and rape, Jon is legit

Jaime bails on sis, who is pregnant with his kid....

And the stupidly brave wildling in love with the warrior got real smart seeing dead dragon rip down wall...

And now we got to wait till next year to find out who wins....

Oh, and the traitorous littlefinger got a shave.
