SMALLER government is the conservative answer. I dont know how you can claim that its one sided, in anyway shape or form.
Its been the "government" cutting funding to fema, and regulations.
Apparently you want to pick and choose where government helps

StWrinklemeat -> RE: God didn't send help, the Government did (9/3/2017 10:12:19 AM)

It really made me laugh. And I miss Dave Allen on religious jokes

my goodness greta please...

I'm wondering if greta has heard of the Westboro Baptist Church.

Now that you've mentioned that, it's weird how these hurricanes seem to concentrate on hitting red states during republican presidencies, isn't it?

Well, red states DO tend to be in the SE US and hurricanes tend to hit......guess where?

Of course, but rational explanations supported by centuries of observation and scientific enquiry are a lot less fun than suggesting that God is picking on somebody, aren't they?

but rational explanations supported by centuries of observation and scientific enquiry also doesn't get butts in the pews and/or on the TV & cell phone, and subsequently making donations to support religious leaders driving around in expensive cars, owning their own private jets, and living in McMansions ether.

Well, obviously, but I don't think the telly baptists like to admit that that's the root of their issue with the Godless secular humanists, do they?

Yes.

Disapproving of state education does not equal disapproval of education.
Objecting to state religion does not equal objecting to religion.
Objecting to a state-enforced equality does not equal being against equality.*

And so on.

*There is a 200 year old quote about this, but I am not going to look it up right now.

Lucylastic -> RE: God didn't send help, the Government did (9/3/2017 11:23:17 AM)

thank heaven for small mercies.
being against fema spending and safety of citizens around superfund sites in flood areas, has nowt to do do with god, has everything to do with funding cuts.

When I saw that cartoon it reminded me of a story from Katrina.

A man was in the path of the flooding;
As the water started flooding a jeep came by and offered to take him away.
He said no Thanks God will take care of me.
As the water rose an army ton and a half got to his house and tried to save him.
He said no thanks God will take care of me.
When his house was cut off a boat tried to help.
Again no thanks God would take care of him.
As he was sitting on the roof a helicopter came by.
He said the same thing.

He drowned.

When he saw God he said I believed in you and thought you would save me but you didn't, why?

God said what are you talking about, I sent a jeep, a truck, a boat, and a helicopter!

The hate from one side is terrible.

I know no one and know of no one that claims that ALL government help is bad. It is nothing but a straw man from the left that is false. It is more smug dismissiveness. *sigh* It is no better than the tweet that claimed the hurricane was "karma" for voting for Trump. Yeah, the people in Huston deserved it. Blech!

If homosexuals deserve to die because they have an itch for cock and 11/9 happened because they weren't being rounded up and disposed of and because models dress like tarts on the runway, I find it very hard to feel censorious towards people on the other side of the political divide using analogous arguments. Some of them might be taking the piss, after all, unlike Falwell, Robertson or the late Phelps.

Leftists are literally all insane howlers.

Disapproving of state education does equal disapproval of education because functionally, unless u have the money, u have no access to it equally.

Objecting to state religion does not equal objecting to religion. But there should be no state religion to start with because THAT is unconstitutional.... period.

Objecting to a state-enforced equality does equal being against equality because functionally, unless u have the money, u have no access to it equally, nor will it be enforced equally, nor will the benefits of equality be equal.

indeed and so on.

The biggest reason why there is a State or Federal anything, is because whatever was that badly needed, would not or could not occur or be enforced on its own.

That's a really old joke: there's a clip of Dave Allen doing that one back in the early '70s and he'd probably swiped it from Tom Lehrer or somebody who was doing it twenty years before that. Nice to see it's got a second wind.

OK, my point still stands.
