mstrjx -> RE: Contracts (7/28/2006 11:38:18 AM)

I've written one.  It has seen some use in a couple of instances.  For many relationships it isn't necessary, but it certainly does illustrate things that I like (and don't).  So nowadays it is mostly 'shown' for that sort of purpose.

I use them. Their length and the information they contain reflects the style of the relationship and the time in it.

I don't tell others they need them but I like them personally I will insist on one with anyone who wants to be with me.

Sunshine119 -> RE: Contracts (7/28/2006 12:25:10 PM)

Don't have one.  Never did.  I think it can be a tool for communication if you or your partner are in any way uncomfortable in expressing your needs and limits.  It can be a tool to protect yourself if you think you may ever be sued in the future (which might be many because of our lawsuit culture).

We were able to communicate just fine with each other and just never found a use for one.

cheshireboy -> RE: Contracts (7/28/2006 12:30:05 PM)

haven't quite used one...but have had guidelines set u, expectations set on both sides that there was an agreement, but it wasn't in the formal contract way.

I do use D/s contracts for one reason it spells out everything I expect from him. Then there is no questions about it I can always refer back to the contract. Also it is a safety buffer in case the law ever got envolved to prove it is  consensual.

openmindedslave -> RE: Contracts (7/28/2006 1:42:23 PM)

This question has come up before concerning the use of contracts...The thoughts on the matter have been written on before. I believe, and please correct me , if I am wrong , but the issue of being a legal binding contract is not considered to be completly true. The issues of signing under deress and the fact that if the contract  contains requirements that may be considered illegal in your area may make everything totally worthless in meaning if it was to be challenged...

Now saying that, if your relationship calls for clear defined  obligations on both sides, you might find a contract a great way to discuss each othersviews of the relationship.
For example, control of money. As the dom, you may say that your name will be on all accounts or that your name may be the only name physically on the account, with the sub receiving an allowance for daily expenses. Sometimes, and again ,only my view, a contract may be a great way to set the expectations down at first, ..may even fullfill the view of ownership,... but really like any contract , it depends on both parties wanting to honor their obligation..

Littlepita -> RE: Contracts (7/28/2006 3:17:57 PM)

My Dom wrote ours. We like it and refer to it as a sort of guide to what we want out of our D/s.

LMAOOOO .... LA is back in business . she always knows where to provide a plethora of knowledge on a subject .... I have never used on but I am thinking more and more of the subject . I just would like a decent site that can give me a generalized what the hell am I doing for M/s Contracts

CelticPrince -> RE: Contracts (7/28/2006 7:11:31 PM)

sunshine,

thanks for your input, from the "s" side of the slash. Yours is one that has proven itself by time, but can you remember back in the very beginning.
Can he remember back?
Mostly I feel it is a device to protect the "D" in the event of a change in mindset.

CP

CelticPrince -> RE: Contracts (7/28/2006 7:15:19 PM)

Jeff, thanks for your thoughts. I know of a friend that entered into a new D/s relationship with one that insisted she knew what she wanted.

Change of mind = police= charges with assault and sexual battery and is now on a very bad list to be on.

All he could offer was " but she said" etc.

CelticPrince -> RE: Contracts (7/28/2006 7:17:05 PM)

chesire,

count your blessings and may I suggest greater caution in the future.

CelticPrince -> RE: Contracts (7/28/2006 7:19:12 PM)

Lynn,

My thoughts exactly, tho as a Domme, your less likely to have to face the police investigationg a ton of bad things.

CelticPrince -> RE: Contracts (7/28/2006 7:21:23 PM)

LA, well if there was a bit of not knowing be fore, you have fixed that, now what are your personal thoughts?

CP

CelticPrince -> RE: Contracts (7/28/2006 7:25:04 PM)

openmindedslave,

Good comments in your second paragraph, but re the first, is it not better to have something in writing as a defense then zip? Only for those mind changers that is!

CP

CelticPrince -> RE: Contracts (7/28/2006 7:27:48 PM)

LittlePita,

Indeed most contracts are written by the "D", but normally has some infusion of thoughts by the "s" before final form.

Chuckles,

Indeed she is, just check the list.

popeye1250 -> RE: Contracts (7/28/2006 7:38:56 PM)

I didn't have one with my former sub. It just never came up. She liked anything that we did together.
I have no objection to having one though if it were neccessary for a future sub.
They could be "fun." I am somewhat "flexable"
She'd of course have her things in there but (I) could have mine too. ; )  He, He!

Well lots of past discussions does not necessarily equal a plethora of knowledge.  However, there are usually golden nuggets in every thread.
