I am a little late into the news but I was so angry with Suicide Squad for removing all the Joker and Harley Quinn scenes, due to Social Justice Warriors getting upset at the "glorified abusive relationship".

But personally, I see Joker and Harley Quinn more of a BDSM relationship. Harley Quinn is consensual.

I hope they don't screw up on their romantic movie.

I love that the same two actor and actress are coming back in the movie.

I love Jared portrayal of Joker. I was never a fan of Health Ledger Joker, as his Joker was too serious and morose, and I strongly believe if he didn't die, it would be have been like, "Meh".

I love Jack Nicholson. And I love Jared Leto as Joker.

I am also sick of all the sickly sweet love stories movies.

I hope to see alot more of Joker struggling with wanting to be evil, but this love he feels for Harley is ruining his "evil image" and he is damn pissed off about his feelings for her. And how he struggles with it.

The extended scenes were fantastic for Suicide Squad which they all cut it off, because it shows that Joker wants nothing to do with her. But she won't leave Joker alone and kept stalking him like a love sick teenager. And Joker tried to do everything to scare her off. Even tried to kill her, but then he grew soft for her. Love it!

But even from the cartoons, I never truly understood Harley Quinn reason for being so crazy over the Joker. I can understand why Joker's heart thawed for her, because she is relentless for him.

But why does she love him so much? Hope the movie explains that. I can't think of why!

She is beautiful, intelligent, and a psychiatrist to boot. What does she see in Joker?

Paul Dini didn't and he came up with the character, so I'd say it's his call on whether or not Harley's in an abusive relationship.

And we all know that if you stalk someone, they'll magically fall in love with you.

Sadly, this will cause a great many teenage girls to believe that because it worked for Harley.

In this context, you have a guy blatantly showing you with his actions that being with him would mean endless abuse, where he has disregard for your life and will cause you alot of pain. Whereas she is basically like, she don't care, she loves it.

He actually cares for her by instead of happily using her, he tried to push her away by showing her how bad he could be. But she just in the end went out to prove they are a perfect match as she is as psycho as him. She demonstrated it in the deleted scene by just killing an innocent bystander for yelling at joker by her own accord that even joker called her crazy for doing that.

This is the movie version though. Where it shows more of Joker love for her.

In the cartoons. Joker was a serious jerk big time. Like she couldn't thaw him at all. But in this movie, you could see Joker thawing.

The thing is, in BDSM, there are many women that do crave extreme experiences. Except in a sane, rational, consensual way.

If you think of the movie secretary, which depicts another BDSM couple who live happily ever after. That dude could be considered abusive to his secretary with a vanilla woman. And he was also taking a huge risk by doing whatever he did, taking a chance on this new secretary. She could have reported him to the police for all his outrageous requests. It would be like physical abuse and sexual harassment if she didn't enjoy it.

Sometimes I think when both men and women who stay in abusive relationships where they are neither financially beholden to each other, or have kids together. Could walk away anytime.

And then you got these counselors trying to save them and convince them to leave. I personally reckon they are into BDSM, but don't realise it yet. Once they reach that self-realization, they can stop feeling guilty for staying, they stay because they enjoy the dynamic.

We had reports of these situations and the puzzling of why they won't leave. You got a woman earning 300k per annum, is the breadwinner. Her boyfriend earns 1/5 of what she makes. Yet she allows herself to be bruised and knock around by her boyfriend and refuse to leave. No kids. Why? One gotta ask.

Or you can see a manipulative asshat with no interest in the rest of humanity trying on a suitable face to exploit somebody.
Given how the Joker's been written in the comics since the '70s and Harley's been written since she was first introduced in the cartoon series in the '90s, that seems a bit more likely, particularly as the DC films and television franchises are being a lot more anal about sticking to their comics continuity than the Marvel stuff.

Harley originated from a cartoon, and not the comic though.

And the origin story was, to me, she was as psycho as him right from the beginning already and found kindred spirit.

The only sad part is, she couldn't make Joker love her back the way she wants to be loved. She wanted the romantic stuffs. I mean, even after she left Joker, she just found another crime buddy. She loves crime. And she loves killing people. I mean, she saw her kindred spirit in Joker. And because she is so sweet and girly, even Batman thought he could change her. But she is not a kind hearted good person at heart right from the start. She just haven't met someone whom she could relate to until she met Joker for her darker side.

It's like an abusive relationship from the point of view of the vanilla. That's why the sappy scene of Poison Ivy pressuring her to leave Joker. But from a BDSM viewpoint, it looks very consensual.

To me, it's clearly consensual when Harley is a successful psychiatrist and does not need the Joker. Even without him, she does very well on her own. She just loves him as he is. To me, she was intelligent and capable never came across as a victim to me.

Just frustrated in her attempts to make Joker love her the way she wants to be loved. That's all. And this song I think demonstrates how consensual she was. I love this scene! I mean, after singing about all the abusive things Joker did to her, she ends it with, wanting him back lol. Usually for a normal woman, if you think of all the terrible things he did to you, is a sure way to not miss him or want him back, but she got turn on by it and misses him more.

No it doesn't. Not unless you think Fifty Shades is a realistic portrayal of a BDSM relationship.
Paul Dini created her as an abused "partner" of a manipulative dickhead who is (unlike the c-list celebrities with doormat spouses who'll accept any amount of abuse because their mister wonderful is in some shitty band or a daytime soap opera from whom Dini drew his inspiration) a mentally ill mass murderer.
This is why there's all the stuff with Poison Ivy trying to do an intervention (and eventually succeeding in the comics). Dini takes a very dim view of this sort of abusive relationship, and set up the way Harley was so obsessed with Mister J that she was complicit in her own abuse if that was all the attention she was going to get from the guy. That happens a lot, and it's very different to BDSM. Not that here aren't some S&M relationships that are deeply and clearly abusive, but that isn't what it's supposed to be about, anymore than vanilla relationships are. Gaslighting isn't a good thing in any relationship, and that's why Harley fell for the Joker in the first place, isn't it? All she ever meant to him was a way to get out of Arkham, and he resents her lingering around him afterwards.

See I thought she was his therapist and over time she fell in love with him. That might have been the comics though..
And I think once she left him for someone and the joker killed them, I forget who it was.

I think he's killed three or four of them by now. Certainly her ex boyfriend from medical school and some minor league mob stooge.
