Last week, Equifax revealed details of the hack and said data on more than 143 million Americans was taken.

The US Federal Trade Commission is investigating how the data was stolen.

Information released when details of the breach were disclosed suggest that hackers got at Equifax's internal systems between mid-May and the end of July this year when the company discovered it had been penetrated.

Data on social security numbers, birth dates and addresses, was taken during the incident.
Equifax is now facing dozens of legal claims over the incident.

Data about British people "may potentially have been accessed" during the data breach at the US credit rating firm Equifax.

The UK arm of the organisation said files containing information on "fewer than 400,000" UK consumers was accessed in the breach.

I have not one bean to my name so it doesn't affect me.

I also believe 3 directors sold 20 million bucks in shares a mere 3 days before this story broke on the Washington Post..or wherever it was broken.

And it ties in with this thread - oh one of yours Real0ne fair, and true, enough.
The CIA/NSA is hacking everything electronic you own

I dont know exactly how things (credit, debts, criminal arrests, lawsuits, etc) work in the UK but here in the good ole USA, someone that has your SSN, name, address, etc can get ID in your name, and use your name for a variety of things.. so even if you dont own a bean,..
what if a someone used your name, etc to get loans etc in your name, took the money and left you with debt collectors harassing you?
What if that person was arrested and used your name, made bail but then didnt show up for court and the cops came looking for you to throw your arse in jail?
What if the person got into a car accident, gave your name and then you were sued for damages?
So what if they got a job using your name (or just filed a fake tax return to get a tax refund) and the tax man came after you for taxes owed?
What if that person used your name and knocked up a girl and she came after you for child support?
It could really fuck up your life for a long time (even if ya dont own a bean).. Just sayin'...
