Tower Hill station is evacuated after 'hissing and smoking' phone charger bursts into flames on a Tube causing passengers to flee in terror

Worried passengers were evacuated from busy station today amid 'blast' claims

Police have since confirmed the incident was caused by a faulty mobile battery

Photos posted online show the blazing item on fire on the floor of the train

Ambulance service says one person was injured in the incident around 12.30pm

There was panic at Tower Hill tube station in London today when an overheated phone charger caused a fire on a train.

Police moved in and evacuated the station near the Tower of London after reports of a 'explosion' on a train sparked fears of another terrorist attack.

Officers have since confirmed that a flaming package seen in pictures posted online was in fact a faulty mobile phone charger.

They could always ban phone chargers, bottles of drinks, laptops, iPads, mobile phones, bags and the NFL from the tube. There is precedence and I am thinking airlines. If they wanted to be ultra safe they could always ban passengers. In-between you gloating did you have any particular type of passenger in mind?

If only people had noticed that the mobile phone in question had been wearing a burka. They shouldn't allow phones wearing burkas into the country.

This is why you should never let one rip while you have a phone in your back jeans pocket on the tube.

You certainly won't want to be holding the mouthpiece anywhere near your nose afterwards, that's for sure.
