Why not? I suppose you filled them with stories of Santa Claus and sheltered their ears and eyes from words that for no factual reason were treated differently than others. They never learned about pedophiles, sex, or the struggles of daily life from you, because it would be awkward for YOU.

But you weren't opposed to lying about the easter bunny or santa or the tooth fairy. theres a life lesson, lie to em while they are young. thats what life will give them.

Unfortunately, ron, another fact-less assumption.

My children were taught about the birth of Jesus (Christmas); not Santa Claus. They were taught about the Passion and death of CHRIST; not the Easter Bunny. The tooth fairy wasn't even mentioned in my house.

I never lied to my children and when they'd come home from school and say: "Jimmy says Santa Claus doesn't exist", I would say: "Jimmy's right."

More straw men for you to knock down, but that's never been my life.

just a different set of lies, Jesus, if he as depicted would have been born in summer or early fall, jesus would have died in mid april or so, so when your lying about any fairy tale the names are not important.

more straw men for you to defactify. and a greater panorama of lies to tell your children.

We know that you hate Christianity, ron. I wonder what happened in your life that you were so injured.

It's a shame. I think I actually liked it better when you felchgobbling, all over the place.

Shame on you for assuming that your crotch spawn are somehow more worthy of rights than others.

Obviously, you're a special case. let's start with:
quote:

ORIGINAL: Shandirra
Shame on you for assuming that your crotch spawn are somehow more worthy of rights than others.

I defy you to find the quote where I said that. I said that your rights could not infringe upon mine (implying it also works vice-versa).
If you can't find where I said my CHILDREN (you vulgarite) are more worthy of rights than you, you're a liar, plain and simple.

quote:

ORIGINAL: Shandirra
Yet, I bet you still participate in the Pagan rites of Christmas. Heaven forbid (all puns intended) that a fictional deity's real date of birth should be celebrated...

If that's your bet, you lose. Pay up. My children were taught about how the early church purposely co-opted Pagan holidays in order to convert as many people as possible.

Since I understood the origins of things like the Yule tree, they were not displayed in my house, once I moved out on my own (aged 17). I used to display lights and a manger scene, but no tree or holly wreaths, etc.

So, what was the forfeit on your sanctimonious and presumptuous little bet?

Also, I'll need those quotes about how my CHILDRENS rights trump yours or I'll just assume every word you type is another misleading lie.

have a day

Quite frankly, I find people putting bumper stickers like this on their vehicles to be presumptuous as well as vulgar since they have NO "RIGHT" to decide to what my children and grandchildren will be exposed.

So, suddenly your children's rights supersede my or someone else's right to free speech?? Bull-FUCKING-shit.

Anytime you imply that your precious crotch nuggets are so special that seeing a profane word in public might scar them for life, you've just stepped on everyone else's right to freedom of expression. Practice your questionable ethics at home and leave others' freedom of speech in public alone.

How am I vulgar for mentioning your children when you're the one who dragged them into the discussion with your very first post on the matter? If you had placed the emphasis separately, I would happily own the title. As it is, your pretentious inference is unwarranted.

quote:

ORIGINAL: DaddySatyr
Also: Objecting to public vulgarity doesn't make anyone "thin-skinned", it makes them unwilling to allow others to impose their moral standards on themselves or their loved ones.

So, you're allowed to impose your morals upon others without their consent?? Bull-FUCKING-shit.

Light displays are still part of the Pagan rites.

Might want to drop those rose colored glasses and sniff the flowers, buttercups.

OFFS lighten up .
my eyes rolled back in my head so far I could see my shoulder blades.
I dont use bumper stickers or obnoxious t shirts, while I wear BDSM type tshirts, it comes from not having an outward need to profess my politics, or religion. Ive certainly laughed at a few, ive bought them for other people, but wearing or displaying politics and religion is asking for an argument...from anyone belligerent enough to get offended. I dont need that hassle.
free speech...gets nasty, where is the line? it certainly shouldnt be "dictated" by religion.

Huh. So, you make a stupid comment, get shown just how stupid the comment is, and then it's "OFFS lighten up?"

Don'tcha just hate it when a conservative American shows you up?

Wow, did you just spit a little with all that hate and anger you just spewed? Might want to grab a kleenex and clean up your keyboard. And do you honestly think anyone read it and thought "what an insightful post" or do you suppose they did like I just did and giggled at the angry little girl acting all so righteous online?

and now despite the fact that I haven't put up lights in years, I may go out and get some just to see if your head will explode.

Tell you what let's do: How about if we allow me to walk down main street with my junk, swingin' free? I happen to be a nudist. That is supoported by my right to free expression.

Somehow I feel that you (and people like you) might object to me doing that simply because you "don't want to see it". There's laws against it. Someone must have objected.

So, I guess in that particular case, someone else's rights are more important than mine. I've learned to live with the disappointment. You should, too.

Yes, you sanctimonious vulgarite. I refer you to my example above. Also, while we're at it: you do the same and practice your hatred for children (I wonder which came first, that hatred or the inability to have them) in your own home and leave me to my pursuit of happiness. You're like an egocentric buzz-kill.

On the whole you seem very upset about the fact that you can't have your way in everything. Your attempt at intimidation and oneupsmanship coupled with your vulgar references to the sweetest beings on earth (anyone's children) tells your tale all too well and embarrasses me to admit that we sprang from the same waters.

You're angry, ill mannered, and awfully loud about being wrong.

Apparently not, since you're foaming at the fingers. Public nudity/obsenity and passive displays of the freedom of speech are two entirely different matters.

No. I made a conscious and intelligent choice not to have any. Idiots like you who think their offspring are angels and can't possibly be exposed to text they shouldn't even understand are what irritate me. Glad to see I struck a chord though!

It's good that you mention (though misspelled "obscenity". You see, "Fuck" is considered in many districts to be an obscene word so, you're getting the point. Nudity and "Fuck" are similar in that way, according to community standards. While "Fuck" is not as universally recognized as nudity, they're certainly close cousins.

Yeah ... you're not angry the way you spew hate for children. If you're not angry, you must be psychotic. Either way, you're useless to me. You're a waste of oxygen that could be used by non-hateful people.

Never mind all that: what's this "if it's blue, then what I say is true" thing that seems to be going on with a few posters at the moment? They're all republicans, so I'd have thought they'd have opted for red...
