How many of you? Male or Female, would have sex on period time?

While I had a vanilla ex-husband. One thing he was never afraid of was period. Maybe because he has a sister.

But true story. He was the one who wore my first tampon for me. As he encouraged me to use tampon, and I refuse, and he said he'd insert it for me and I said sure, if he would insert it for me, I would wear it. Maybe it isn't the period itself so much as the threat of blood-borne pathogens.

Well, in my case, I hate receiving oral. So it's never about oral sex. But just penetrative sex.

I don't know about Singapore, but there was a pretty big HIV campaign in the west that made people squeamish about sex, needles and blood-- probably forever, at least on some level.
I still remember those horrifying black and white posters with the big capital letters in red that were always hanging in my elementary school after one of the teachers died of it in the late 80s.
I looked at them and all I could think was 'AIDS IS COMING TO GET YOU'.

I don't know if it's just that-- but blood is pretty special for a lot of people, a lot more than va-jay-jay juice... I know a person who works in a medical lab dealing with piss and shit and sections of brain and such... and he will still refuse to go near blood.

I wouldn't take it personally.

Seaweed's supposed to be good for that.

I think HB is onto something with the comments about blood as a transmission vector. I doubt that the blood you find elsewhere than on the rubber afterwards spreads any further than any other vaginal discharges that take place during sex (quite possible less than some), but it's a lot more visible.

There's certainly something in that.

Having given it some thought, getting involved with blood is something I would really only be comfortable with in a situation where I didn't need to think about STD protection. On reflection it has only really been a long term relationship thing for me where trust and loving everything about someone because of who they are is at the maximum.

Unprotected blood play of any description with anyone else is scary in a bad way. Being scared that something might be damaging or go too far can be good, but not when it comes to transmissible diseases.

There's a Charles Shaar Murray interview with Bob Marley where Marley's quaffing some (foul looking, according to Murray) concoction that turns out to be a seaweed and honey milkshake that he's drinking because it supposedly improves the taste of his semen. He might have been better off just cutting out the coffee, smoking and heavy spices, but unless he was pulling Murray's leg about that, at least he was making an effort.
