You're asking the wrong question. Even if it's legal, if the cops in your jurisdiction think it's not, then you would be in for arrest and possible outing if the cops decide to arrest you.

It varies from state to state in the US, and even within local laws. There is no "generally" when it comes to this; it's legal in some states, a grey area in some and flat out illegal in others.

In general I think it is illegal in almost all states if you are paying and any penetration takes place. Nevada is the only state I know of with legalized prostitution. Some places view the paying party (John) as a lower crime than the person being paid (prostitute). There might be an exception for a sex therapist if licensed but I doubt any licensed therapists would do that. Sodomy is a vague term usually construed as "unnatural sex" and in any state that has a sodomy statute it is going to be illegal in addition to being classified as prostitution so it is two crimes in those places. Have no idea about the law in Virginia where your profile says you are.

Also, what do you mean by getting "trained" with a strap-on? It doesn't require training to take an object in your ass.

In parts of Nevada it is legal. Las Vegas, illegal.
