Justice....at last
http://talkingpointsmemo.com/news/feds-seek-60-year-prison-sentence-larry-nassar

DETROIT (AP) — Federal prosecutors on Thursday asked for a 60-year prison sentence for a Michigan sports doctor who was caught with child pornography while under investigation for sexually assaulting female gymnasts.

Larry Nassar, 54, who worked at Michigan State University and USA Gymnastics, will be sentenced for child porn crimes on Dec. 7. In the last week, he has pleaded guilty to molesting teens and younger girls with his hands in two other cases in state court.

Nassar “has led a double life,” Assistant U.S. Attorney Sean Lewis said in a court filing. “On the surface, he was a respected, world-renowned expert for elite athletes. He was a medical doctor, a husband and a father. But underneath this veneer lurked a predator.”

Lewis said Nassar “poses an immense risk to the community.”

In July, he pleaded guilty to three charges in federal court in western Michigan, each carrying up to 20 years in prison. Sentences typically run at the same time, but U.S. District Judge Janet Neff can order separate, consecutive punishments.

Nassar’s attorneys didn’t make a specific recommendation in their memo but asked Neff for a “just sentence.”

“While Mr. Nassar wishes he could rewind the hands of time and make different choices, he realizes that this is not possible. … He deeply regrets the pain that he has caused the community, as well as his family and friends,” Shannon Smith and Matthew Newburg said.

Investigators found more than 37,000 images of child porn on Nassar’s electronic devices. He acknowledged that he dumped computer hard drives in the trash and paid $49 to have a laptop’s memory wiped clean to obstruct investigators who were hearing allegations about sexual assault.

The hard drives were discovered only because the trash truck in Nassar’s neighborhood was late one day.

“To be clear, this defendant amassed an enormous collection of abominable images of children being sexually abused, raped and degraded,” Lewis said.

Nassar pleaded guilty Wednesday to assaulting three girls at a Lansing-area gymnastics club while they sought treatment for injuries. He made a similar guilty plea last week, admitting that he molested girls at his Michigan State clinic and his home. Meanwhile, more than 100 women and girls are suing him.

Olympians Aly Raisman, McKayla Maroney and Gabby Douglas say they were victims when Nassar worked for Indianapolis-based USA Gymnastics.

Would it not be better to give all his victims base ball bats and an hour each in a room with the guy?

the child porn charges aside---and this is consistent with bits of conversation going on in other threads, I wonder about male doctors being alone in examining rooms with female patients.

I thought it's been S.O.P. for twenty years or so for a female nurse to be included in that confab?

Peace,

bounty44 -> RE: Feds Seek 60-Year Prison Sentence For Olympics Gymnastics Sports Doctor (12/1/2017 7:52:28 AM)

no, but some men are. had the doctor indeed had a female present during all the examinations he made in which he accosted the girls, its likely he never would have accosted the girls.

but yeah, eliminating the opportunity to commit crimes is a bad thing.

seriously, what a %*#^ ass you are.

I would have thought so too---then the question becomes, how is that so many of the girls are accusing him of assault. im not disbelieving the accusations as opposed to wondering how they could occur.

I often look at each venture into a conversation with a leftie as an extension of an olive branch---an effort to find common ground, or at least to be able to discuss things rationally and have an actual conversation.

sometimes I fail at that myself, but on the whole, when the comrades perpetually respond with snark...it just makes ya wonder if the effort is worth it.

But he didnt and girls not women suffered.
Because yes some men are dangerous.

People get abused, when they complain about it and come forward, they are blamed, called liars, groupies, whores and golddiggers and all of a sudden men are "fed up with the outpouring of #me too stories.
guess how many of those girls will carry their abuse forward. How it will affect them for the rest of their lives.
This time the dickhole got caught and got justice .....60 years...
Its a shame all abusers arent caught.
If you think in anyway that NOT eliminating the opportunity to commit crimes is my point of view, you dont read or watch carefully.
WHy are you more interested in the mans reputation than the victims, you brushed them aside..completely

Once again, factlessness, but of a lesser kind. It has never been SOP. The AMA ethics are that a female chaperone for these situations is to be provided if the patient asks for them.

Seven rightist states have legislated from the bench such a law out of thin air:
Alabama, Delaware, Georgia, Montana, New Jersey, Ohio & Tennessee

New Jersey and Ohio are "rightist states", ronnie?

Talk about fact-less! N.J. voted for the she-cunt last election and, having lived there for quite some time (as opposed to you, living in St. Paul, Devonshire, UK), I can tell you that N.J. is "purple", at best, but almost entirely "true blue" in actuality.

Similarly, Ohio, more often than not is blue, in actual "practice".

Poor ronnie. Does your head hurt? Do you need to lie down? Was that the bell over the door I just heard? Time to sell the chachkis!

My olive branch to you is that you are a liar, factless, as well as very stupid. Nobody owes such tripe as you spit honest consideration, ever. You always fail, you were born a failure, and have only honed those failure skills with your advancing years.

enjoy the "slobberblogs" mnottertroll, they are written by doctors.

quote:

In general, the rule is to have a “chaperon” present to protect patients against possible sexual misconduct, and to make them feel more secure during intimate examinations. The official AMA guidelines state, “From the standpoint of ethics and prudence, the protocol of having chaperons available on a consistent basis for patient examinations is recommended.”

In fact, most institutions mandate that chaperons be present for rectal, pelvic and breast exams. Whether this actually happens is another story.

In practice, adherence to these rules varies widely. Often the issue is not having extra staff available, or not having enough time to track someone down. Most male doctors are assiduous about having a chaperon when performing a breast or pelvic exam on a female patient, though many do not use chaperons for male patients.

https://well.blogs.nytimes.com/2010/12/02/do-patients-need-a-chaperone/

quote:

There is no doubt that male physicians feel that they need to offer chaperones when doing pelvic exams on women. Over 80-90% use them in the US.

https://www.kevinmd.com/blog/2010/12/chaperones-hindrance-patient-privacy.html

in other words mnottertroll, more or less, its standard operating procedure.

fool.

and never mind that Michael actually asked a question rather then making a definitive statement---so your "factlessness" charge, as usual, is off the mark.

whats it like to be so wrong all the time??

MasterDrakk -> RE: Feds Seek 60-Year Prison Sentence For Olympics Gymnastics Sports Doctor (12/1/2017 10:27:32 AM)

In any words, it is more or less not standard operating procedure. It is anything but standard.

Whether this actually happens is another story.

Over 80-90% use them in the US. (show me the piss doctors fact set) here, lets just put your ignorant spin in context....
There is no doubt that male physicians feel that they need to offer chaperones when doing pelvic exams on women. Over 80-90% use them in the US. For other intimate exams, ie breast, male genitalia and rectal, the percentage drops off. Not surprisingly male physicians use chaperones at a much higher rate than women do for opposite gender patients. Women physicians plan on using chaperones for male genital exams no more than 20% of the time.

Otherwise we will be forced to assume bampot44, that you are still digging up the names of the 100s of FBI agents that have quit, and any anecdote that you feel buttresses the other insipid drivel you spew that I will assume we will not see the actual facts. No numbers, no counts....

20% of those male numbers are: 125K or so, and of females, more than double that number. It must be humiliating for you to be so fucking stupid and uselessly inept and ineffective all the time, you are a real case of fuckwhistle.

https://www.kevinmd.com/blog/2015/04/were-going-to-need-more-medical-chaperones-heres-why.html here is a read for you rightists.

WTF?!? Your interpretation of Bounty's responses has been wildly different from mine.

I read this comment: "I wonder about male doctors being alone in examining rooms with female patients" as him wondering why a male doctor would be left alone with a female patient because it leaves open the opportunity for the male doctor to sexually assault the female patient.

By your response snarking that female patients are so dangerous demonstrates that you and I read that completely differently.

Bounty's response pointing out that some men are dangerous (rebutting your snark that female patients are so dangerous) makes it seem your interpretation was not correct.

So, with the goal of mediating a stupid disagreement that actually doesn't exist, I want to point out that Bounty was wondering why a male doctor would be left alone with a female patient because it gives the doctor the opportunity to abuse his power and harm the female. He was not opposing the females stories, but wondering why the situation was even allowed to happen (and Michael commented he thought it has been sop for 20 years for another female to be in the room with a male doctor and female patient in an effort to prevent the opportunity of abuse).

You find it deplorable that a man would do that to a female, and especially a female child. No one in this thread has said anything to the contrary. Bounty looked at it from the "why wasn't the opportunity for the abuse prevented?"

...preceded Lucy's off the wall rant.

sometime it is indeed easy to misread things, other times, often here unfortunately, personal animosity gets in the way of thinking.

oh and lucy:

quote:

that's called sarcasm, and its usage was not meant to imply that you actually believe what it is saying, but rather that you were clearly not grasping what I wrote earlier, which is the exact opposite of what the sarcastic comment indicated.

sarcasm employs irony: "the expression of ones meaning by using words of the OPPOSITE meaning in order to make ones remarks more forceful."
