In a book I was reading, the subject came up about the "Happy Hunting Ground" and that one of the dead would come and lead you there, when the time came and the question came up who would you like to come and lead you there?

So I ask, if there were such a thing; Who, of the dead, would you want to come to lead you?

Are you expecting a lot of political names to come up in response? Is that why you posted it, here?

My grandfather who taught me to hunt and a lot about marksmanship and reloading. I still use some of our old 'recipes' for bullet weight/powder matches.

easy question for me, hands down, my mom.
Funny thing is Miles, I have always rather counted on her showing up when my time comes anyway.
* Having faith is such a comfort, I can't imagine living without it.*

If there is any way possible she can, she WILL help me transition.
It will be an absolute joy, for her to take my hands and lead me.
She brought me into this world, how fitting for her to help me leave it.

Raised as an anglican, I had heaven and hell drilled into me, and Ive gone thru many different beliefs in an "afterlife"so, in that respect, taking the question as valid.
My father , or my grandfather.
They had the charm, intelligence, humour and compassion I love in a man
And a few talents I dont:)
But my grandfather inspired me to have curiosity and learn, my dad inspired me to think outside of societal norms. Heh I think after some of the arguments we had, he wishes he hadnt.
Ive always been difficult.
But otherwise,
Death from family guy, or bill n teds various adventures. Or most of the tv and movie versions...for the gallows humour.

I've a Mother, Father, and four brothers gone... we could have a parade... I think most people would want a love one...you should have said other than family.

I dont think I could narrow it down to one person, outside of a loved one. There are way to many people I would love to see, to "come for me", from my past and human history, It would more depend on what it involves:)

I understand, but this is a wish worth more than most could ever hope for.

If the "offer" involved, picking one person, I would do so, and be happy with being given the one chance.

Last time I looked this was the Dungeon of Political and Religious Discussion and since this is a somewhat Religious question this seemed like the place for it.

The question in the book was answered by; my grandmother and so it would seem that family would be an okay answer. A lot of people think of a Grim Reaper as coming for them and I thought it was heartening to think of a loved one coming to lead us instead.

Actually, I was thinking of saying other than "Jesus".

All it depends on is, when the time comes, who would want to help you transition into the afterlife if there is one. ;-)

I'd like to have a chat with Hitler.

My grandfather who was a truck driver and a carpenter and whom I spent way too little time too because he died when I was young.
Also my other grandfather from whom I think I got my moral fiber and whom I spent no time with but heard wonderful stories about.
I think both could give me some solid advice and tell me more about my past, this thing that so many forces today are trying to make irrelevant.

Alrighty. I didn't see a religious element, per se, but I understand your intent, now.

Since it's staying here, I'll go ahead and answer.

I'm going strictly with your statement:

quote:

ORIGINAL: Milesnmiles (emphasis by DaddySatyr)

In a book I was reading, the subject came up about the "Happy Hunting Ground" and that one of the dead would come and lead you there, when the time came and the question came up who would you like to come and lead you there?

So I ask, if there were such a thing; Who, of the dead, would you want to come to lead you?

I'd wish for more than one guide, but since that seems to be the constriction, I will go with my paternal grandmother who I never met, but about whom I learned a lot, when I was just a young adult.

Anias Nin.

"We don't see things as they are, we see them as we are."

"Life is a process of becoming, a combination of states we have to go through. Where people fail is that they wish to elect a state and remain in it. This is a kind of death."

"Life shrinks or expands in proportion to one's courage."

Read more at: https:

I do pretty well in the matter of reaction to spontaneous adverse events, but when it comes to real courage, Anias Nin outpaces me and most everyone else by 1,000 times.

Somebody like that is whom I'd want to guide me through such a drastic transposition.

I would like my cats who died before me to come and fetch me. If the man I love died before me. Then it would be him and my cats. But really OMG, if I died and I saw all my kitty spirits coming to greet me, that would be like my heaven! I would literally look forward to death if it means reuniting with them. As they brought me so much joy in my life.

Hi Greta, I would like to say that, although I may not always agree with you, I have enjoyed your thoughtful answers that seem to come straight from your heart.
