There used to be a time when a friendly voice would send a fraternal and helpful little greeting to the newcomers announcing themselves in the introduction part of the forum AND THEN bash them silly for the slightest error that they make.

What fun is it if you do not lure them into a false sense of security at first?

Oh my god.
That's a great way to facilitate an integration into a community!
Well i guess some people are into the whole silent treatment thing...
But I mean common....wow.

Most people were even nice to people there!

What’s worse is I don't think new people realize that the “reply” feature is unavailable. So their hello post is greeted with a resounding silence. I think that’s worse than the occasional reaming that only the very deserving used to get.

The reply to intros got removed months ago.

Since there’s been a huge problem since the site began of dudes using it to hit on Newbies, or trolls being nasty to anyone who didn’t want what they wanted, I’m not surprised that the simplest solution was to close replies.

But yes,this should have been explained as a sticky in the forum.
