So the term Fetus is appropriate. In fact far more appropriate that Baby if Child. The Zika virus affects the Fetus resulting in BIRTH defects.

So...from a purely linguistic perspective...a fetus cannot be called a baby if it is still in the womb? I don't know about you but I have never heard an expectant mother exclaim that the fetus is kicking.

WhoreMods -> RE: The 7 things you can't say at the CDC (12/18/2017 5:52:52 AM)

Suggestions for alternative terms that can be used to keep the whining fuckwits happy.

From a medical perspective, the correct term is fetus, not baby not child. This is a medical organization. To ban them from using the word in official reports is nothing but playing politics.

It's a budget report, not a medical research paper. There's no difference in which word is used based on what's being discussed in the report.

Yes, which is why demanding that certain ideologically unacceptable terms are not used in said budget report is so utterly fucking pathetic.

I hope they add having to redo the budget because of stupid, arbitrary censorship to their next proposals.

You and others are the ones ascribing politics to this. I'm simply looking at the words. I don't see any changes that necessarily reflect any particular politics.

Have you read the report? A budget REPORT is not just numbers. It contains information on how and what the numbers (amounts of dollars) will be used for.

I know what a budget report is, Susie. And if you've been paying attention then you should already know where I'm getting my info from. I'm assuming the final report reflects what's in the justification but if you have contradictory info then post it. It doesn't matter to me either way.

Really? So why the fuck is there whining about the use of specific terms in the budget report if the shower of mouthbreathers, log rollers and panderers who last year's election put in charge of the CDC aren't trying to politicise the matter?
It's weird how the alt right never shut up bitching about Orwell's newspeak and PC being an attempt at mind control, but are perfectly happy when one of theirs tries to mangle the language in order minimise debate or dissent...

Careful, WM. You're coming very close to suggesting that political correctness is something the right wing is doing here - when we all know that it's a failing solely of the left.

Wayward5oul -> RE: The 7 things you can't say at the CDC (12/18/2017 10:33:57 AM)

FR how is the CDC supposed to report on studies and statistics involving abortion without using the term fetus? They do studies involving information on abortion, which have to be budgeted for. So the word fetus has to be used.

Unless the purpose behind this is to start referring to aborted babies and children in medical literature, rather than fetuses.

Could this be the right's reason for requiring this change? As a first step towards changing the language of abortion to the more emotional (and medically inaccurate) terms referring to live births?

Why the fuck don't you go ask the fuckin' whiners? It's not my job to figure out why people do the stupid shit they do. I simply tried to supply some facts to the typical bullshit that everyone loves to indulge in around here.

Lucylastic -> RE: The 7 things you can't say at the CDC (12/18/2017 10:57:44 AM)

I wonder why they didnt change the word embryo.

Well, Lucy, I just learned that apparently one of the directors at the CDC posted a tweet over the weekend that said there are NO banned words at the CDC so maybe this is just...dare I say it...fake news??

interesting look at how this admin has made changes to websites, etc

Wayward5oul -> RE: The 7 things you can't say at the CDC (12/18/2017 12:03:41 PM)

The ABC news report states that the HHS said that claiming that the words are banned is a "mischaracterization". Not clarification yet of what is being mischaracterized.

Lucylastic -> RE: The 7 things you can't say at the CDC (12/18/2017 12:09:04 PM)

it is more interesting in what they dont say:)

Because you're making excuses for them, and insisting that their attempt to politicise a budget report through censorship isn't any such thing.
You're even doing so in a rather whiney fashion.[:D]
