Milesnmiles -> Anybody else remember the old song "Barry's Boys"? (12/25/2017 4:55:34 PM)

I thought that a lot of the lyrics could be applied to Trump and with a little rewording it could be called:
Trump's boys

We're the bright young men
Who wanna go back to nineteen-ten

We're the kids with a cause
Yes a government like grandmama's

Back to when the poor were poor and rich were rich
And you felt so damn secure just knowing which were which

We're the kids who agree
To be social without security

So if you don't recognize any old Red China
Or Canada, or Britain, or South Carolina
….
No college days with Socrates and Plato

You just organize parades for the abolishment of NATO
And the rest
The entire West
So let's go back to the days when men were men
And start the First World War all over again
That's right you tell'em son
Isolationism can be fun

And remember, "I'm American first, and a politician second"
Spoken like a true American politician
;-)

No, I don't remember.

And if I ever heard it, for good reason.
When you die for crown or a profit...or labeled treason.

1910 ? A time when before the west was allowed all of those trillion$ in debt. One could walk into the huge ghetto of any major city and...come out diseased.

Secure ? When dying at work rather than war for young and old.
When children 5-6 years old, worked to support parents and could even be sold.

Just who was secure ? Grandmama...maybe.

Yep, and don't you think that's about where Trump is trying to take us?

The US economy would suggest otherwise. Enjoy your tax savings.

You are exactly backwards

Leftists vilify wealth, preach propaganda attacking those who work to become wealthy

Conservatives allow individuals the liberty (freedom from undue government burdens) to grow wealth. Look at many of the places leftists have got their way. Venezuela for example - Bernie Sanders praised Venezuelan socialism a model for his version of socialism:

http://investmentwatchblog.com/senator-bernie-sanders-these-days-the-american-dream-is-more-apt-to-be-realized-in-south-america-in-places-such-as-venezuela/

Today, Venezuela looks exactly like the nightmare scenario you claim president Trump is leading us to

And so it goes with all of these leftist states eventually

That's what corp. America would love to see. It is the long game and Trump will serve as the current short term enabler but it is the entire corp. world that places profit over life.

And when the world I described was no more...how did that happen ? It was progressives, repubs, TR and forced by govt.

You had better invest your tax cut for your kids, they...are paying for it.

We may be too old but of course the capitalist would love to have the dictators of the like in Venz....just here instead and as here...in their pocket.

The corp. flat out doesn't give a fuck about anything except themselves and the investor class or the kind of govt. they extort.

Conservatives in fact allow those liberties to the corp. always 'regulating' what rights and protections employees and customers have in law.

Conservatives allow the corporation every break, every advantage, every criminality and while paying only 9 cents of every dollar of fed. tax rev, will soon pay only about 6.

While the Fortune 500 has not created one net new job in Amer,...since the 60's and not giving a flying fuck about all of the $2/week children who were being maimed and killed before child labor laws.

The combination of the so-called conservative right and the ever increasing, unbridled power of the American corp....is evil incarnate and will bring in Venz....capitalist style.

There's the rub. Much wealth is stolen with the approval of the State's power leaders who also have their snouts in the trough. The poor and wretched are scapegoated. It is such a con. You even complain against wealthy blacks so to distract from the inequity of robber barons over the working class.

The US economy was on a massive upward trend for 7 years before Mr. Trump became POTUS.
Are you too fucking stupid to realize that?

servantforuse -> RE: Anybody else remember the old song "Barry's Boys"? (12/26/2017 2:48:41 PM)

Massive upward trend ? Not really, unless you consider a steady 2% GDP massive. Obama spent 8 years blaming Bush for his failures. Now he will try to take credit for Trumps success.

DJIA went from 8200 in Feb '09 to 0ver 20,000 before the reigns were handed over.
That's about a 150% increase in just under 8 years for the Dow.
I call that pretty fucking massive.

Source. http://www.macrotrends.net/1319/dow-jones-100-year-historical-chart

I don't know where you call that 2% annual. Maybe you used Common Core.[sm=lol.gif]

To keep pace percentagewise, Mr Trump will need to take it to well over 50K,

Again. Pretty fucking stupid.

servantforuse -> RE: Anybody else remember the old song "Barry's Boys"? (12/26/2017 8:16:09 PM)

Nothing to brag about there. Average maybe 1400 points a year over 8 years. It went up 6000 points in one year since Trump was elected. Also comparing the GDP to the DJIA is apples and oranges.

What are you high on, old man? Glue? Gasoline?

I've never posted anything about wealthy blacks.

Robber barons now? The words "howler" and "cartoonish delusions" come to mind [:D]

You mean like comparing the apples of verified 8 years of Obama to the oranges of two verifiable quarters of the orangeman? Like that, you mean?

BTW, Trump wasn't handed a massive economic crap-fest like Obama was. Thanks to Obama, Trump wasn't presented with such situation.

The actual number is 2.9 annual per capita real GDP increase over the span of that administration. And that with one of the most virulent obstructionista congresses ever, and having an economic wreck vomited in his lap before he started.

The Dow and the S&P are almost always well above GDP, so those numbers matter too, but they are more ephemeral and volatile, so it's ridiculous to compare two quarters to 8 years and proclaim 'victory!' But shortsightedness and limited thinking seem to be how this ignominious twit got elected in the first place, by those in communion with his mental limitations concomitant with reckless adventurism inspired by clumsy insipid fairy tales.

Get back to us in 7 years + three months and make a legitimate comparison. Let's see what the orangeman does with a well functioning economy gifted to him by the previous administration. If he lasts that long.

The liberals here are trying to rewrite history. The economy was stagnant, at best over the last seven years. Way to much regulation and high corporate taxes. That is why Trump won the election.

Obama even mocked Trump for saying this was possible, just before president Trump's historic election

Actually, it's gone up less than 5000.
