Bannon calls the Trump Jr. meeting, "Treasonous"

https://www.politico.com/story/2018/01/03/steve-bannon-trump-campaign-russia-meeting-321209

“Even if you thought that this was not treasonous, or unpatriotic, or bad s---, and I happen to think it’s all of that, you should have called the FBI immediately,” he said, adding that if the meeting were to happen, it should have occurred “in a Holiday Inn in Manchester, New Hampshire, with your lawyers who meet with these people” and then the information “dump[ed] … down to Breitbart or something like that, or maybe some other more legitimate publication”.

He calls Kushner greasy and says he was laundering money through Deutsche Bank. Gee, the Fusion GPS TOLD the committee to look at the Deutsche Bank accounts.

Bannon, though, predicted that there will be more shoes to drop and that Kushner, who was a prominent real estate magnate in New York before joining his father-in-law’s administration, will be of particular focus. The New York Times reported last month that federal investigators had subpoenaed from Deutsche Bank records related to the Kushner family business.

“It goes through Deutsche Bank and all the Kushner s---. The Kushner s--- is greasy. They’re going to go right through that. They’re going to roll those two guys up and say play me or trade me,” Bannon said. The former White House chief strategist, who left the administration over the summer and returned to his role as the head of the alt-right publication Breitbart, characterized the White House’s response to the ongoing investigation as “sitting on a beach trying to stop a Category Five.”

He also said that Bush was the most dangerous President in history. I agree 100%.

You all are learning. Trump was in his campaign, a complete, ridiculous, pompous unknown.

Now from the oval, to continue to cordon himself off from the power inside...is not playing ball. If Trump stays where he is, he's ok for a while yet.

However if he strays too far off the reservation or like W, a most useful of useful idiots, then if the cabal feels Trump most go...Trump will go.

It seems that this forthcoming book by Michael Wolff of 'The Guardian' is going to have some explosive ramifications. Ex-Watergate prosecutor Nick Ackerman has drawn some dramatic conclusions from his reading of the book in an interview on MSNBC:
"SNBC anchor Joy Reid delved deeply into the implications of journalist Michael Wolff’s new book with former Watergate prosecutor Nick Ackerman and Business Insider reporter Natasha Bertrand on MSNBC Wednesday evening.

“On page 255 of the book there’s the claim it might have been Jared Kushner who actually leaked the details of that Trump Tower meeting where this supposed exchange of dirt on Hillary Clinton was supposed to take place, in order to save himself and sacrifice Don Jr,,” Reid noted. “Does that comport with your reporting and make any sense?”

“It makes sense given that it was actually Jared Kushner’s fault that the entire Trump Tower meeting was discovered in the first place,” Bertrand reminded. “So it makes sense if he wanted to get ahead of it and throw Don Jr. under the bus, which it seems like Steve Bannon has also been eager to do.”

“You can’t tell me for a second if he’s telling some Australian diplomat in a bar what he learned from the Russians that he didn’t tell the campaign the same thing,” Ackerman concluded.

So we know a crime was committed, the only question is, ‘did the Trump campaign conspire with the Russians in order to throw the election to Donald Trump?’ All of the evidence here, all of the indications, indicate the answer is yes,” Ackerman explained.

“And who is the person that’s communicating with both Guccifer 2.0 and Wikileaks?” Ackerman asked. “Roger Stone, Donald Trump’s main political operative.”

“So to me if you look at the overall picture and the overall timeline, you clearly have a conspiracy, to basically steal the e-mails from the Democratic National Committee in order to throw the election to Donald Trump,” Ackerman explained. “You’ve got lots of indications that somewhere in this process the Trump campaign joined that conspiracy.”

“It’s a conspiracy to violate the federal computer hacking law, the Computer Fraud and Abuse Act and that’s where I think all of this is going,” Ackerman predicted.

Bertrand concluded that “there is no way that Donald Trump Jr. — who tells his father everything and always has, from my own reporting and others reporting it’s been made very clear in business, in life in general, he always went to his dad for everything — was not telling his father about this very important meeting that he apparently was anticipating for a long time at Trump Tower, where his father was on that very day.”

“I think this is something that goes overlooked is that Trump himself was at Trump Tower on June 9th and he was there supposedly around the time that this meeting occurred,” Bertrand continued.

“So there was definitely a lot of communication going on, according to my reporting, it’s much more extensive than we think,” Bertrand hinted.

“Drip, drip, drip,” Joy replied.

https://www.rawstory.com/2018/01/watch-ex-watergate-prosecutor-methodically-lays-out-muellers-evidence-for-a-trump-russia-conspiracy/ (emphasis added)

There's a video of the complete discussion at the link provided above.

It does make sense the Trump Jnr is the weakest link in the chain. I can't say that I have ever had cause to note his intelligence - in fact he comes across as gormless and goofy, the American equivalent of what the Brits call an upper class twit, swimming in waters that are far too deep for a person with his limited skill set and meagre intellect to survive, let alone negotiate successfully.

The rift with Bannon is significant too. In all the chaos of the Trump campaign, Bannon seemed to be one of the few who actually knew what he was doing, and had a strategy in place to achieve his goals. Trump Snr's dumping on Bannon is pretty meaningless - it is SOP for Trump to turn on anyone who has the sense to desert his sinking ship. And while I am in no way sad to see the neo-Nazi thug leave the White House, it will be interesting to see who prevails in the battle for the soul of the GOP, presuming of course that the GOP actually survives the Trump trauma in some kind of recognisable and workable shape. It is far from a given that it will ...

Nunes may end up in jail for Obstruction of Justice. He demanded FBI documents so he can selectively leak them to the press. He tried to do just that with the debunked wiretapping claim.

On Fox & Friends, they are bashing Bannon and Wolff. I think that will be the strategy moving forward.

This is not going to end well. Nixon imploded more gracefully than this. My guess is Bannon isn't going to be bullied and punch back. Maybe a countersuit. (Or more likely counter bluster, as this is not a suit. (Just a threat))

You Can’t Make This S--- Up": My Year Inside Trump's Insane White House

https://www.hollywoodreporter.com/news/michael-wolff-my-insane-year-inside-trumps-white-house-1071504

I interviewed Donald Trump for The Hollywood Reporter in June 2016, and he seemed to have liked — or not disliked — the piece I wrote. "Great cover!" his press assistant, Hope Hicks, emailed me after it came out (it was a picture of a belligerent Trump in mirrored sunglasses). After the election, I proposed to him that I come to the White House and report an inside story for later publication — journalistically, as a fly on the wall — which he seemed to misconstrue as a request for a job. No, I said. I'd like to just watch and write a book. "A book?" he responded, losing interest. "I hear a lot of people want to write books," he added, clearly not understanding why anybody would. "Do you know Ed Klein?"— author of several virulently anti-Hillary books. "Great guy. I think he should write a book about me." But sure, Trump seemed to say, knock yourself out.

Since the new White House was often uncertain about what the president meant or did not mean in any given utterance, his non-disapproval became a kind of passport for me to hang around — checking in each week at the Hay-Adams hotel, making appointments with various senior staffers who put my name in the "system," and then wandering across the street to the White House and plunking myself down, day after day, on a West Wing couch.

The West Wing is configured in such a way that the anteroom is quite a thoroughfare — everybody passes by. Assistants — young women in the Trump uniform of short skirts, high boots, long and loose hair — as well as, in situation-comedy proximity, all the new stars of the show: Steve Bannon, Kellyanne Conway, Reince Priebus, Sean Spicer, Jared Kushner, Mike Pence, Gary Cohn, Michael Flynn (and after Flynn's abrupt departure less than a month into the job for his involvement in the Russia affair, his replacement, H.R. McMaster), all neatly accessible.

The nature of the comedy, it was soon clear, was that here was a group of ambitious men and women who had reached the pinnacle of power, a high-ranking White House appointment — with the punchline that Donald Trump was president. Their estimable accomplishment of getting to the West Wing risked at any moment becoming farce.

A new president typically surrounds himself with a small group of committed insiders and loyalists. But few on the Trump team knew him very well — most of his advisors had been with him only since the fall. Even his family, now closely gathered around him, seemed nonplussed. "You know, we never saw that much of him until he got the nomination," Eric Trump's wife, Lara, told one senior staffer. If much of the country was incredulous, his staff, trying to cement their poker faces, were at least as confused.

Their initial response was to hawkishly defend him — he demanded it — and by defending him they seemed to be defending themselves. Politics is a game, of course, of determined role-playing, but the difficulties of staying in character in the Trump White House became evident almost from the first day.

"You can't make this shit up," Sean Spicer, soon to be portrayed as the most hapless man in America, muttered to himself after his tortured press briefing on the first day of the new administration, when he was called to justify the president's inaugural crowd numbers — and soon enough, he adopted this as a personal mantra. Reince Priebus, the new chief of staff, had, shortly after the announcement of his appointment in November, started to think he would not last until the inauguration. Then, making it to the White House, he hoped he could last a respectable year, but he quickly scaled back his goal to six months. Kellyanne Conway, who would put a finger-gun to her head in private about Trump's public comments, continued to mount an implacable defense on cable television, until she was pulled off the air by others in the White House who, however much the president enjoyed her, found her militancy idiotic. (Even Ivanka and Jared regarded Conway's fulsome defenses as cringeworthy.)

So much more at the link

Is the "insane friend Steve Bannon" the same Steve Bannon who was appointed by Trump as his campaign CEO and then to the exalted position of 'Chief Strategist' in the Trump White House?

Doesn't it concern you that Trump is appointing "insane" people to important positions in his campaign and Administration? How did Trump & Co fail to identify Bannon's insanity until after he left/was fired? Surely you must agree that, at the very minimum, this poses serious questions about the vetting procedure applied to high up people in his Administration?

Or are you OK with Trump appointing lunatics to positions of great influence?

According to the pundits at NBC (Source) Bannon concluded as long ago as March last year that the Trump Presidency was doomed. The remarks attributed to Bannon in the book were made months ago - books can have a lead time of up to one year. So it seems fair to conclude that Bannon saw the writing on the wall a long time ago and is re-positioning himself to be on the 'right side of history'. Indeed, unless Bannon was thinking along these lines, the remarks he made seem incomprehensible.

What does it mean that one of the prime architects of the Trump campaign comes to a conclusion that Trump is doomed? When one of his closest advisers, his 'Chief Strategist' at the White House and former CEO on the campaign trail no less, described by Trump not too long ago as a "good friend ... I like Steve a lot" is now rubbishing Trump? And Trump in turn now claims improbably that Bannon has "lost his mind". How long before Trump in desperation turns back to the Mooch (remember him?) ???

This schoolyard spat follows closely the hilariously childish "hot button" pissing competition with North Korea's Kim. Are schoolyard spats the order of the day at the Trump White House? It would be outright comical were it not for the desperate implications of a clash between two nuclear armed States.

The rest of the world sits back, tries desperately to keep a straight face and hopes for the best. Are Americans joining the rest of the world in questioning Trump's mental equilibrium? Is this the most incompetent Administration in history? Why are Americans allowing Trump to turn the US into a laughing stock, a joke of cosmic proportions?

https://ca.finance.yahoo.com/news/steve-bannon-says-apos-certain-173500896.html

So now Bannon is sure that Trump SR., currently the President of the United States, ALSO met with the Russians?

quote:

"The chance that Don Jr. did not walk these Jumos up to his father's office of the 26th floor is zero," Bannon told author Michael Wolff.

Unbelievable that this is coming out because of a BOOK, as opposed to the FBI investigation.
