MasterJaguar01 -> FINALLY - Someone in charge who know what he's doing! (12/27/2022 6:35:34 PM)

Unlike Trump's childish and completely ineffective Tariff policy, which resulted in an increased trade deficit between the US and CHina, we have a President who actually understands how to compete with China.

How we can SUCCESSFULLY compete with China

Actually cutting off their ability to manufacture electronics. Actually regulating Chinese investment in this country. (As opposed to the last administration who was taking billions in $$$ from China)

I am just thankful we now some competence in the White House.

And we can now actually COMPETE with CHina!

B-b-b-b-but Hunter.!.. B-b-b-b- the laptop!

Yes. GREAT article! I love how the few people in the Trump administration who actually know something about economic policy marvel at competent leadership in the Biden administration.

If you really read the article, what makes you think that Joe Biden wants to compete with his Sugar Daddies

From your linked article:

t’s also a departure the White House would rather downplay. The administration insists that its protect agenda is focused squarely on stalling the Chinese tech sector, and not aimed at halting China’s overall economic growth or “decoupling” the two economies more broadly.

“We are not seeking the decoupling of our economy from that of China’s,” Commerce Secretary Gina Raimondo, who is enacting key parts of the agenda, said in a late November address outlining the administration’s new tech policies. “We want to promote trade and investment in areas that do not threaten our core economic and national security interests or human rights values.”

But that attempt at a middle road between decoupling and unfettered economic engagement is under attack by China hawks and free traders alike.

Those who want a tougher stance toward Beijing point out that the total amount of trade between the nations boomed through the pandemic, feeding a record trade deficit between the countries. Those China hawks, including some Trump administration veterans, say that Beijing’s control over the Chinese economy is so complete that the only way to ensure that American commerce does not assist Chinese military development is to push for less trade between the countries, particularly in high-tech and defense-related sectors.

“I think we have to start the process of strategic decoupling,” said Robert Lighthizer, Trump’s former trade chief and a longtime China hawk, who commended Biden’s recent tech actions against China but urged him to pursue broader efforts to reduce U.S. reliance on the Chinese economy.

“Once you decide [China’s] a foe, you have to start the process of stopping the shipment of hundreds of billions of dollars each year that they’re using to rebuild their military,” he said, referring to record trade deficits with China following the pandemic.

I read the entire article. Biden doesn't want to publicly telegraph his aggressive stance toward China. Very SMART!

I can't open your facebook links as I am not on facebook.

My only point is, Biden's China policy is brilliant, unlike the failed policy of the last administration. Nothing on facebook will change that fact.

Facebook posts aren't news articles anyway. Neither are memes, regardless of where they're posted. Political cartoons have rarely changed opinions.

There's a whole section for games here on the forum. No need to mess up a thread here for it.

Back to the point of the thread.

I am happy we finally have an effective policy to compete with China. The tariffs weren't keeping us competitive and were hurting us more than China.

Biden is
1. Building tech manufacturing here.
2. Cutting off China's ability to manufacture

3. And actually proactively defending Taiwan, instead of the last administration's kowtowing to the "one China" policy.

B-b-b-but Hunter! b-b-b-b-but the laptop!

I think the Russian invasion of Ukraine has shown us that we greatly overestimated Russia as a threat. Yes, they have nuclear weapons and that cannot be forgotten, but any nuclear war means global destruction. Putin knows that too. But this hasn't been a direct colfict yet, ans likely won't.

China may invade Taiwan, in hopes of taking it back. Biden wants to prevent that. But I don't know that US troops would be sent to defend Taiwan. US military aid, or other aid, absolutely. But I think... I hope... It would be a cold war.

As China becomes increasingly aggressive toward Taiwan, Japan, and the rest - Joe Biden has dutifully shipped all of our weaponry to Ukraine. This, after "Democrats" have for years demanded we totally gut military spending

But you go on believing that your life-long career politician gods have your best interest at heart. Believe their polished speeches, after they have lied to you for generations while amassing personal wealth and power beyond belief (You will eat ze bugs, own NOTHING, and be happy - Klaus Schwab https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=60MzTlrOCXQ)

The U.S. and Europe are running out of weapons to send to Ukraine

NATO Secretary-General Jens Stoltenberg held a special meeting of the alliance’s arms directors to discuss ways to refill member nations’ weapons stockpiles.
But ramping up defense production is no quick or easy feat.
The U.S. has been by far the largest supplier of military aid to Ukraine in its war with Russia, providing $15.2 billion in weapons packages to date since Moscow invaded its neighbor in late February.
