It seems the last few elections have been full of extreme right vs extreme left. So far it appears we may get a Biden vs Trump election AGAIN. A narcissistic rogue psychotic and a demented incompetent.

Don’t we have anyone who can run who can run who can be more in the middle of the political spectrum? Who might you draft as a candidate that hasn’t thrown his or her hat in the ring?

Let Bartlet be Bartlett.

If only.

Aside from the ageism of the OP, the very premise that Biden is extreme left is just ludicrous.

But the Constitution and our Declaration of Independence were pretty extreme. We just need to live up to them as a nation.

I'd vote for Bartlett in a heartbeat. Or Mr Ed.

Aside from the obvious ageism in the OP, Joe Biden isn't extreme at all and was elected President so that we could get this country back on track, after the last administration.

None of the real issues facing the country are new, and the President (and the entire Executive Branch) only has so much power. Congress should be doing more.

Trump does seem to be the early frontrunner for the GOP nomination, and Biden pretty much has a lock on the Democrat side, being the sitting President and the leader of the party and all. But we're still several months away from the GOP primaries & debates. So anything could happen, really.

If it does turn into a rematch, I expect Biden to get another term. Otherwise, God help us all.

I would agree that Biden is far from extreme left. However, he has acquiesced to the left wing of the party in some cases. I have been a Biden fan for many decades and have always wanted him to be president. Now that he is president, I am rather disappointed.

Trump, on the other hand is not even close to extreme right. He is in politics to enrich and glorify himself and repay his debt to Putin. He doesn't comprehend any ideology.

Some things need to be more left, but some people just need to get the fuck over stuff.

I've seen a lot of bitching about SCOTUS decisions this term, with some people freaking out, saying it's the end of Gay Rights. Yeah, bullshit. Religious freedom and gay rights can coexist, and really they have to. Gay people can have religion. Duh.

Religion shouldn't be used to control others, but neither should an activity, such as sex. I think the case was about a website designer not wanting to do a gay marriage website because of religious beliefs.

To me, it's no different than the gay wedding cake thing. The business should do everything standard that they would do anyway, and then let the couple personalize it with names, or a cake topper or whatever. Yeah, it sucks to not get what you want or need from a place. But when you finally do get it, you can live out the scene from pretty Woman and throw it in their faces that they didn't get the sale. Fuck em.

When will the freedom of religion at least we know, all 3 of the biggies sanctioned slavery, get the capitalist their slaves back ? To deny it is a violation of those religious freedoms.

Religion has been used to justify nearly every atrocity mankind has done to itself. Since the first Commandment is Thou Shalt Not Kill, I'm fairly certain God hasn't wanted any of it. It's just an excuse to do terrible things to people, in order to make yourself look better. But wiping out an entire people ain't easy, and those people may have something to say about it.

There shouldn't be this "us against them" mentality. A person's race, religion, sexuality, gender-identity, or ugly shirt ain't got shit to do with me, unless they try to make it my business.

It's really impossible to fully submerge yourself into a different culture, unless you can take it in and let it become your culture. Reading the autobiography of Malcolm X doesn't make me Black. Eating a plantain doesn't make me Latinx. Watching the Golden Girls doesn't make me an old white woman. Working for or with a minority person doesn't make me that.

Yes, there are rules, limits, and laws that we all have to follow, and there will be growing pains for both sides as we adapt, but LGBTBBQOMGBBQ*/π people exist, get the fuck over it. This "identity politics" faux outrage is bullshit. All politics is identity politics when the other side wants to take action against your personal needs and desires.

As one party gets more extreme, the other side has to fight back. There is no real equilibrium. No balance. Just bullshit all around. If we can actually get to a point where we're all singing Kumbaya and not being dickheads to other people because they're different than us, that would be great. Just take the money, do the damn thing you do, and stfu. Cuz nobody cares.

God probably won't strike you down because you make a gay couple a wedding cake, or a wedding website. "Oh I don't believe in that". Dudes take it up the ass, it's a thing. You can see it online. It exists. It isn't something you can't believe in, because it's real. Oh, you can not do that, or be that. Save the believing in shit for Santa Claus, Bigfoot, alien abduction, monsters in the closet, shit like that.

The morr any minority group is targeted, the greater chance there is that they may strike back. Stonewall was a riot.
