That was his Scottish born mum, I think. I wouldn't like to think for a moment and add up all the American gun deaths per year https://www.gunviolencearchive.org/ basically 50,000 dead and 50,000 dead every year.

Senseless.

Someone name me one other country in the world where this happens? Some countries like Switzerland rival America's gun ownership but with almost no deaths.

The second amendment was written for a bygone either and it definitely does not say guns for all, even back then.

Switzerland had the 2nd (2, 1+1, horrible enough) gun death in decades only recently. And while the gun ownership regulations seem comparatibly liberal (since every Swiss is a militia man), even transporting a gun with ammo but without hunting permit or army order is a jailable offence. So the permission to own is limited to possession, safe storing and cleaning only.

It is bred into those inbred Americans from birth. The second, not to be confused with 2A, is Greatest nation on earth, third pledging allegiance to god.

My guess is not from birth but an early education to fetishism. And when any, and the next shooting happens there is a big "oops" at best.

So is this a thread about changing the culture or about banning guns in the US? Because foreign disdain isn't likely to make us ban guns. Really, it's more likely to have us questioning your motives and buying even more guns and ammo.

Changing gun laws here isn't likely this generation. Changing the culture would also take time, but is a much more noble endeavor.

To fundamentally remove any supposed need for firearms in the home would require eliminating poverty, the criminal element, economic disparity of any sort, and all threats of aggression, both real and imagined, foreign and domestic.

I saw a video on YouTube about an entirely different sort of gun. It uses a different sort of projectile and fires electrically, recharging with a USB cord. it seems like a brilliant evolution to me. I haven't researched it to know if it could be lethal, but basic physics tells me it probably could be, though I'm sure a label maker could be lethal in the wrong hands.

Changing culture would make a lot of sense. Banning guns in the US would be your task, of course.

It would take some insight though that the meanwhile sole purpose and effect of our holy cow commitment, pardon amendment, is not to shoot rampaging Canadian rednecks regularly storming the northern US border but providing the easy means for Americans shooting Americans (and some unfortunate tourists who happen to meet a 15 yo who has got a gun but no warning how and how not to use it).
But if you feel fine how many of you shoot others of you, go on. Fell fine and proud. Eliminating poverty asf is a bother everywhere, even in foreign countries. It is a requirement even with restrictive gun laws preventing regular gun shootings. But obviously the priests of your holy cow religion have told you that you couldnt get the one before the other. Do you really believe a 15yo shooting a tourist is a secure means to stop foreign aggression, domestic poverty and crime, and economic disparity????
No he isnt, he is a public danger. But it seems, this woman in Scotland, the mother of the man he killed, has understood much better what has gone wrong.

I'm actually against banning guns outright. Guns can be an invaluable tool for protection against large mammals in rural areas, rabid dogs anywhere, and intruders entering your home.

Though banning guns may seem like an easier solution, I don't believe it's the right one.

I don't believe in murder of any sort, but I also don't think I should be required to hand over my guns because somebody somewhere committed a crime.

In 1994, Bill Clinton signed a federal ban on the manufacturing of assault weapons into law, with 77% of Americans and at least 3 former presidents supporting it. That ban ended in 2004 and hasn't been reinstated since, support for it isn't nearly as high now.

Banning specific firearms, ammunition, or accessories would garner much more support than an outright ban.

Of course, any true and outright ban of firearms would require a Constitutional Amendment to override the Second Amendment, which doesn't seem likely anytime soon,

By even suggesting such an extreme (and impossible) measure, ideas that could possibly work to lessen the amount of gun crimes in this country are made less effective. Even mentioning an outright ban is polarizing and forces a side be chosen.

In order to accomplish any reduction of gun-relsyed deaths here, it is first necessary to know and understand the laws we already have. Support is much more likely for incremental changes.

And murder is illegal here, regardless of how it's done.
