Ok, so Uncle Joe has officially dropped our of the election and now supports his VP, Kamala Harris, as the presidential candidate.

So now, I gotta wrap my head around Kamala as president. If elected, she'd be the first minority and the first female to lead the nation.

None of that is a big draw for me, though it may be for some. The most important thing guiding my support is that she isn't Trump.

I expect most of her platform to be what Joe has already set out, with very little change. I don't think policy has ever really been in question.

The big question, I guess, is who will be Kamala's running mate? Most of the names I know are an automatic no, either because they're too important in their current positions or too divisive. The only real exception is Mayor Pete. I like him as a candidate and he's been good on his Secretary position. Even more, he's been more the face of the administration, doing more interviews than pretty much anybody else, and he hasn't really been attacked by the right. There really can't be much to attack him on, without making it personal, which would cost the GOP a few votes, I'd imagine.

Sure, the personal attacks against Biden came easy. His age was an issue. Hunter was an issue. Neither of these matter anymore and can't be used. The only personal attacks against Kamala would be racial or gender-based, and those would likely backfire. So, this election can now be strictly about policy and platforms. That is quite refreshing.

Of course the DNC convention will make the nominee official, but I don't see any real competition for the nomination. Joe Manchin is supposedly thinking about changing back to Dem and running, but that seems laughable.

As someone from California, I can tell you she is immensely unlikable and has some crappy behavior in her personal and professional life. The vast majority of Latino and black voters don't like her for her policies as AG of California. Her policies change to whatever will get her elected...not because she believes in them. The only reason she is being put forth as a candidate is because it's too complicated to sort out the money.

I can't really disagree with any of that. She wasn't my first choice as Biden's VP. But, she has Biden's support.

I already know what Trump stands for and what a GOP presidency would mean for me. I'm gonna be voting Democrat anyway. Kamala would be president if anything happened to Biden anyway, so I don't see much of a difference. I do hope that over the next couple months, I will learn about what she wants to do as president.

I can't bring myself to vote for her. I think I'm going to vote Libertarian.

I don't even know who the Libertarian cañdidate is. Or the Green Party. I don't really pay atto third party candidates or independents. Ross Perot screwed that up for me.

Aww, how I miss this politics and religion section. Use to be some heated debates in here a decade ago. As for Kamala, we shall see. Can she heat Trump? We'll find out in November.

What are your specific reasons for why you don't like her ?

What do others believe about her and what are others telling you ?

So Kamala picked her VP candidate, Tim Walz, Governor of Minnesota. I don't know much about him, just what I've heard on the news this week. I don't think I'm any more or less likely to vote for Kamala than I was before.

We're from California. There's a plethora of things, from minor to major. When she was AG, she was more concerned about her conviction record that human beings

"In February, California Gov. Gavin Newsom ordered new DNA testing in the 1983 murder case of Kevin Cooper. Cooper came within hours of execution in 2004 after being charged with the murders of an adult couple and two children. Harris opposed the testing when she was the state’s attorney general."

That man was exonerated by DNA, but she was willing to let him be killed. That alone, makes her someone I wouldn't want in office.

She isn't qualified to run a hotdog stand, but media propaganda has her billed as the second coming of Barack even though she refuses to do unscripted interviews because she's as dumb as a box of rocks and it would show

This, after she sent scores of black men to prison for marijuana, then laughed when she admitted that she uses it. She kept innocent black men behind bars to literally use them as slave labor for the state

Truthfully though, Barack also harmed the black community in a lot of ways. President Trump's policies were far better for them, and for everyone else

I saw Tim Walz speak the night before and I do really like him. Also saw Mayor Pete that night and he is probably the best person the Dems have of explaining why the stuff they wanna do and have done is good, and why GOP stuff is bad. Factually, without the whiteboards. Although I love m some Amy Koblacharmander or whatever the fuck her name is.

Tim Walz, Governor of Minnesota? Who's running Minnesota while Tim Walz is running around with an EX-Black Wrestler called kamala?
If kamala harris loses will Tim Walz go back to being the Governor of Minnesota that he abandoned to run with kamala harris???

Well, Florida's governor came back from his failed primary run, so probably.

I recall a Texas governor running to be president at one point. Did the primaries and everything. And somehow, Texas made it through.

And sometimes, even a sitting president has to campaign to get a second term, but the country doesn't come to a screeching halt.

I'm sure any governor business that needs to be handled will be.

I think JD Vance has a job too. In fact, I think the only one running that is currently unemployed is Trump. Maybe RFK Jr, idkwtf he does.

She is horribly unqualified, but a far better candidate than Trump. Unfortunately that is what the 2-party system has left us. I supported Nikki Haley until she revealed herself as a whore.

That alone makes her more qualified than Trump was in '16.

But the Constitutional qualifications necessary certainly apply, no pending SCOTUS decision required.

Being current Vice President is no qualification at all, if you don't understand domestic or foreign policy.
The Vice President has ZERO constitutional duties except being President of the Senate (a 99% ceremonial job), and showing up to break a tie vote.

The fact that she has a good heart and means well, puts her miles ahead of Trump (who knows far LESS about domestic and foreign policy than she does)

I saw a post on social media saying that many women are choosing not to sleep with guys who vote for trump. I don't know how many women feel that way but it's going to be alot of still angry, lonely maga people. But then again,isn't it like that now anyways. My biggest reason for voting for Kamala is to preserve democracy. I can't think of a bigger reason. But yeah, there's also that side to it.

First of all, I agree with you on your support for Harris.

Secondly, I think it is sad that our 2-party system has delivered us these choices, where we have to vote for one of the candidates JUST to preserve our democracy. That is how low the bar is.

I remember a day, not too long ago, where the Access Hollywood tapes would be enough to disqualify a candidate on character alone.
Stormy Daniels??? - Definitely disqualifying (Yes JFK cheated with many women. None of them were porn stars. Unfortunately, one of them was Cord Meyer's wife, but that's another story)
Ukraine / withholding of arms /election interference? - IMPEACHED!!! Nixon was impeached and ultimately resigned for a cover-up of an office break-in. Child's play compared to Trump.
