Taibbi believes what happened with Facebook was worse than what they found in the Twitter files because those communications came directly from the White House ordering them to take things down, which was well beyond just suppressing the Hunter Biden laptop story. Taibbi does not think people realize the scope of how the government and social media platforms worked together and believes all of this is unconstitutional and it’s still to be litigated.

American laws allow foreign influence over our elections through social media and that has not been changed or even mentioned by Congress that I know of.

I just saw a TikTok video promoting a silly conspiracy theory that most Washington politicians have stock in Meta or X, so of course voted in a bipartisan fashion to ban TikTok, as it was hurting their bottom line. Just a silly conspiracy theory I'm sure.
