Castro's condition unknown after surgery

By ANITA SNOW, Associated Press Writer 7 minutes ago

Little was known of Fidel Castro's condition Tuesday after he underwent an operation and temporarily turned over the Cuban presidency to his brother Raul, ushering in a period of uncertainty at home and celebrations by his enemies abroad.

we already have the news release prepared- his obit. it has been so for years. [as well as others in the public eye]

he has been a thorn in our side.  too bad he dont have oil.

MistressBG -> RE: Castro (8/1/2006 6:57:36 AM)

well, not much I can say except that I hope and pray that he is dead already!

hopefully this is the begining of the end for a nightmare that's lasted 47 long years. My family migrated from Cuba to this country (USA) when he took over in 59... my biggest dream is that my elderly father is able to see the day that Cuba is free.

I was in Cuba last year and I didn't get the impression that people were that happy about the last 47 years of US policy or the rich Cuban families that have been lobbying the US government to carry on with its embargo. Many seemed to blame the US and Cubans in Florida for the poverty there, not Castro. Though Cuba has never been free and it will never be free because it is in the US's backyard.

MistressBG -> RE: Castro (8/1/2006 8:11:22 AM)

Of course they blame the US, don't you know that they absolutely despise the US and ALL americans? Don't you know that they have been fed tons and tons of extreme anti-american propaganda for the past 47 years?  Who else are they going to blame? themselves? I think not.

Yes but hell, America has been fed tons of anti-Castro crap. Let's be honest, when the bay of pigs fiasco took place it was rich Cubans and Americans smarting over having their corrupt regime kicked out. The Castro regime wasn't even communist but felt forced to seek shelter under the Soviet umbrella. Without US interference and a 47 year embargo, Cuba might well be a paradise now but the rich are always more bitter and spiteful than the poor when they've had their candy snatched from them.

MistressBG -> RE: Castro (8/1/2006 8:21:49 AM)

ok, obviously we have a completely different view point. I see Fidel Castro as a monster, making Hitler look like a baby in diapers - I don't see what your point is about the rich vs the poor.... but whatever. I just hope that son of a bitch burns in hell. : )

LotusSong -> RE: Castro (8/1/2006 9:15:34 AM)

Now, does this mean that if Cuba goes democratic with freedoms that all of Miami will  return to their homeland?

Theslavetrainer -> RE: Castro (8/1/2006 9:17:45 AM)

No, it means that Miami lawns will go unkept though.

MistressBG -> RE: Castro (8/1/2006 9:39:22 AM)

I hope you burn in hell along with Castro. :  )

Theslavetrainer -> RE: Castro (8/1/2006 9:45:05 AM)

LOL, aren't you sweet.

MistressBG -> RE: Castro (8/1/2006 9:45:09 AM)

I'm not the cuban-american spokesperson, so I can't say if "they" will "all" go back or not. I know that for me, I was born and raised in this country, I am as much of an american as anyone else who was born in this country, whether your family has been here for 200 years or for 20 years...I would definitely go to a free Cuba, I would never leave my own country to live any where else, but I would definately consider a free Cuba my second home.

MasterKalif -> RE: Castro (8/1/2006 11:56:35 AM)

MistressBG, I am together with you on this one, I hope that communist decrepit beast gets to see judgement day, or international shame for all the problems he has caused Cuba and the the Cuban people, as well as the so called "paredones" or death squads int he early days of his totalitarian regime. I wish to see the day when Cuba will be free of the communist yoke.

Viva Cuba Libre!

While driving to work today, listening to the news.  I heard Bush said something to the effect if Castro dies..and I assume his brother as well.  He cannot wait to get into Cuba to change it into a democracy.
What exactly does Bush know about democracy?  Why throw ourselves on someone that does not want our help once more?

I really don't understand how someone can live within this country yet be so isolated to not even know what is going on in this country.  So big deal Bush lives with security but so do many other people yet they still seem to know what is going on.

joyinslavery -> RE: Castro (8/1/2006 12:33:35 PM)

Yippee!  I just want the cigars.

Homestead -> RE: Castro (8/1/2006 12:36:31 PM)

It had to happen eventually. It will be interesting to see how it all shakes down.

Theslavetrainer -> RE: Castro (8/1/2006 1:06:16 PM)

I'm just wondering how fast the U.S. is going to walk in and put someone of their choosing in power and have it blow up in their (the U.S.) face.

raiken -> RE: Castro (8/1/2006 3:38:20 PM)

Ya know, i didn't want to say it , but i was also thinking along those lines.  I also just remembered about the Cuban baseball player who came to play for a US team, i can't remember his name, but he had to leave his wife and kid back in Cuba because of Castros law.  Does anyone remember his name?

CrappyDom -> RE: Castro (8/1/2006 4:06:07 PM)

America subsidizes the growth of sugar in this country, more welfare from liberal states to republican welfare queens.  This is also done to fuck over and destroy Cuba because sugar is one of their cash crops.

We deal with China, a nation that gunned down a city block full of its citizens and the DOD says is the primary threat America faces in the 21st century.  Cuba, a tiny island nation and a threat only to Indian casinos, has faced economic warfare from the US for its entire existence.

Besides, as bad as Castro was, he wasn't as bad as the US installed and supported dictator Batista.  Gee, anyone see a pattern between supporting brutal dictators and countries hating us and violently overthrowing out puppets?

LotusSong -> RE: Castro (8/1/2006 4:59:28 PM)

Let's see.. Castro is supposidly just haveing some bowel work done.  Now what is going to happen if he bounces back?mAre all these people going to run back home and hide and be subdued again?  Or are they going to  have the balls to finally fight for their country instead of doing the backstroke to Miami??
