Refinement isn't just knowing what fork to use, it is also a mindset.  The submissives I meet that stand out from the crowd have class, style, and wit.  They are gracious hosts and pleasant guests.  Simply put, they help their dominant look good.  I'd gladly have someone trained, either by someone in the community or a vanilla professional, to make me look better.  This kind of training pays for itself.

I couldn't agree more.  I do think, though, that for some that mindset will only come with confidence gained through knowledge and experience.

That, and it is more fun to degrade and humiliate the prim and proper.

Now that's just plain mean!  [;)]

I have noticed however ,that many Dominant males are excited by the idea of forced public wanton behaviour in their sub/slave or provatively dressing them to the point of being slightly innapropriate.  Some have said they do so for the humiliation aspect....and some have stated that they simply enjoy "showing off their property. I've even gotten the impression that some do so  simply to measure the depths of the sub/slaves obedience.

That has been my experience, as well.  In addition to the reasons you've outlined, I think for some doms there is also an intended "growth" aspect to it, too... perhaps a kind of "de-programming" from the idea of what a woman was raised to believe is appropriate, and allowing her a little more comfort with herself and her own sexuality.

Then again, I may be giving too much credit.  [;)]

I think that inhibitions come down by allowing accetpance of natural expression.

Giving it a safe venue is the key thing.

But to my way of thinking, the vanilla public places are NOT a safe or respectful venue.
