LotusSong -> RE: Utopia :) (8/2/2006 6:29:38 PM)

Actually, this is was a semi serious post at the beginning.  I was trying to think of how it would be if the world were run differently.  Taking into consideration the things that bug the men.  The responsibilities.  Just thinking about how women would do it differently.  I really don't see us doing the war thing.  We negotiate more than fight. We would treat our males differently because there would be no competition between the sexes as there are now.  We know what they like, want and need... and to be productive, we would make sure they got it.

I'm trying to think if I want to request this to go to the Polls and Other Things slot.. or keep it here since it goes between discussion and playing :)

BTW.. Peter will be my personal oral slave.  DIBS!!!!  (but don't worry- I share :)

Lotus, are you oral slaves for giving or receiving?

For whatever I want :)

Basing social structure on some random uncontrolled trait is pretty ridiculous.  Stop putting women on pedestals.

  This way all you have to think about is sex.. and football.. and working out :)  It's a Utopia for you too!

Hm. I hate football (most sports, in fact), and working out is certainly not one of my favorite things to do. Also, sex can get tiresome. As an overdramatic pre-teen might say, "You don't understand me! Nobody does! I hate you! I'm going to go write in my blog about how much I hate my life and practice using eyeliner!"

It's taking every ounce of my strength to keep this post lighthearted, and avoid ranting about freedom, personal choice, and the idea of equal respect between genders. Lotus, I think you may have unwittingly stumbled upon the most efficient way of unfailingly irritating the most men possible, in one post.

Way back when thats basically how the Amazon women thought.They would cut off on breast so they could use a bow and arrow better.

That's a common misconception. Not only is cutting one breast off very little help in archery, there's simply no proof that amazons ever did it, as a culture.

LotusSong -> RE: Utopia :) (8/2/2006 7:04:43 PM)

It's my world.. you just stumbled into it :)  If anyone deserves to be placed on a pedistal..it's us.  (Ask any male slave :)

Thank you for your restraint.  It's a measure of maturity and security.

I figure people get just as offended as they choose to be.  Not my problem.

Utopia is a place populated by one and whatever imaginary friends that are allowed.

Utopia: a place without idiots that think men/women/blacks/whites/gay/straight/etc are better than men/women/blacks/whites/gay/straight/etc.

Hello Lotus,

I would have to be dropped from the *we* as I don't know what *men* want and need....neither do I know what women want or need. I do know that I'd hate to be in a world order that meant I had to spend time surrounded by females almost entirely. The thought would fill me with dread......lol

My experience has been that women may not *fight* as in *fisticuffs, but they do something else which is much more insidious.

I  understand fisticuffs a lot better than I do the gossipy, bitching, subtle undermining, competative interplay that surround a lot of females.

I've observed far more nastiness surrounding females than I have men. Men are very much more direct, overall, when they want a problem sorted out , they try to do just that ......without wasting energy on whinging and whining about *what the problem is*. I really don't understand women, they are a mystery to me..............just being female hasn't made that any easier.

I know I am generalising as much as the next person but this is just my personal view of how I've experienced the genders. I'm much more comfortable around men than women and have no female friends at all. The only females I have in my life are blood-related......lol

Regards, agirl

LotusSong,

Now, I'm all for equal rights but I know women who couldn't run a bath so running a country smacks of running before you can crawl.

However, I am prepared, at a very reasonable fee, to provide coaching on self-discipline, emotional stability and financial restraint (particularly on shopping sprees).

My butler has kindly offered to open your jar of pickles once you have achieved a satisfactory standard of the above criteria.

No need to thank me in advance.

Regards

Really? I thought it was something that should be post under Random Stupidity.

Really? Is that what you call lying, backbiting and being conniving, negotiating? LOL,

Hell, that could happen now instead of just being a dream. But women don't know when to just shut the hell up and deal with things as they are. They want equality but don't take responsibility for their actions and when made to do so, scream about how it's not right and unfair.

It really wasn't a discussion in the first place. Or at least it wasn't a serious one. So I agree, it should go to the Random Stupidity forums.

LadyEllen -> RE: Utopia :) (8/3/2006 6:58:10 AM)

Hmmm. Well, all I can say is that this thread has been of such immense value to me - I've learnt so much. How else would I have learnt such lessons as;

1) women should shut the hell up, especially when the men speak as the men have much more important things to say
2) that women cannot follow the point a man is asserting is evidence of female stupidity, not male incoherence
3) women are totally incompetent at any task not centred around raising children, cooking, housework and catering for male needs
4) women are totally irresponsible, and require constant male supervision and guidance
5) women are capable only of emotional whining and think only of themselves in any situation
6) women are wrong, men are right (even if the woman can provide coherent, evidence based argument - see points (1) and (2))
7) despite their obvious superiority, men do not understand irony, sarcasm, hypothetical reasoning or any other form of communication which is indirect in nature - that women do understand these is evidence of their foolish, dreamy and emotional nature
8) if women wish to be listened to by men, then they should communicate in a form to which men are open; blunt, baseless, assertive and preferably accompanied by abusive comments
9) that utopia is only a few social regressions away, and that since there is a will for it there must be a way
10) that the problems of women are their own, whilst the problems of men are down to women too

However, I am having a few problems to fully understand these lessons. For one, it seems to me that most men talk rubbish if they talk at all, and often their valuable communications seem to be in the form of grunts that are difficult for me to understand - probably just that I'm stupid. Second, I'm running a multi-national company that is highly successful - obviously I've just been lucky to have got this far without a man supervising me to prevent me from foolish emotionality about business. Third that my posts, however oblique and satirical or serious, seem to get rave reviews very often, either in the thread itself or in direct mails to me - from men as well as women. Perhaps as a stupid, emotional and incompetent female I require further male guidance on these items?

TreSwank -> RE: Utopia :) (8/3/2006 7:07:00 AM)

Since most of society's whipping boys have been removed from court-jester status by vicious ultra-PC lobbying, the white male has now become the "acceptable target", for everyone's derision.  While an anti-woman, anti-black, or anti-gay joke would have set off a firestorm of "moral outrage", jokes pertaining to white men, or men in general are the toast of the town. Perhaps some of us have the foresight to see the implications of facetious male-bashing, and the double standards set by the "culturally sensitive" folks who participate in it.

LadyEllen -> RE: Utopia :) (8/3/2006 7:25:06 AM)

Tre - true enough, but isnt every group fair game for jokes dependent on the time and place? So the jokes might be about white middle class males these days (havent heard any myself, by the way) - but did this group see any problem about jokes with women, ethnic groups, gay people etc as their objects? No.

Personally all thats important for me is that the joke is funny and not in poor taste - and importantly, not made from the basis of hatred towards the person or group about which the joke is made.

We have a comedian here in the UK called Bernard Manning (big, fat, ugly sod - but funny). His act has centred around jokes about ethnic minorities in Britain for the last goodness knows how many decades. There was a PC campaign to ban him a few years ago, but it failed because do you know what? - the ethnic minorities came to his defence (many were regular audience members) because it was all done in the spirit of fun - not on the basis of hatred.

So, make whatever jokes you want - but keep it in good taste and as fun; if anyone has a problem with that then that is exactly the situation - they have a problem!

TreSwank -> RE: Utopia :) (8/3/2006 7:30:48 AM)

In America, I believe that the social climate is a little different.  For the past few years, there's been a sort of  masculine backlash against "patriarchy-blaming" feminists and "girl-power".

LadyEllen -> RE: Utopia :) (8/3/2006 7:34:20 AM)

Thats probably only natural? Things come and go in cycles all the while - humour though is eternal.
