As a dom I have never actually had the pleasure of being gagged yet I am mildly curious. What are everyone's favorite and least favorite gags both for you personally to be gagged with and for you to gag someone else with? I personally prefer the look of the cleave gag on mu sub. It doesn't cause too much crool, keeps him quite and is very plesent to look at. Whilst I find the ballgag unpleasing to look at and far less effective.

My favorite type of gag is probably a ring gag, for several physical and psychological reasons.

Least favorite, just because it is least effective, would be a tape gag.

In general, I love gags.

I use one of those dildo gags on my sub, its very humilating for him and is a great ride for me. [:D]

A ring gag, absolutely. It still effectively eliminates any ability for her to speak meaningfully, while allowing me to do so much with her mouth.

For the intimidation factor - nothing beats a dental-quality "stretch" type gag.  Can't recall what it's called, but it's metal and holds the mouth open quite nicely.  It's fun to watch people squirm when they see one for the first time, too.
 
For aestethics - the Kaptin likes the way our ball/bit gag with the little tassles at the ends looks on me.  I like regular, padded bit gags on others.
 
For sound muffling - duct tape and penis gags, most definitely.

I have one of the metal mouth openers you speak of...I dont use except to wave it in front of them...Definitely an intimadating piece of equipement.


Gags I like to use is cloth of any type a cotton sheet for instance
cut into strips,I tie a knot in the middle which acts like a ball to stuff in the mouth.
One reason I like these I can wash them easily and the cloth sops up drool.
I have several size knots depending on the mouth size.

*You do have to use care that the submissive isnt actually choked by a knot to big.*

Hmmm, gags don't get much time in my play.  Maybe it's because few of my female friends have enjoyed being on their respective ends of them. 

I have had a ball gag use on me, and it went well.  It's a BDsM icon lol, and worked for both aesthetic and psychological reasons.  Really the only one I ever had applied to me.

As for using ON somebody else... For a fetishy bondage scene the ball gag, for a sesual scene a bandana or scarf, and for role play duct tape (it has that roug improvised look and feel).

Would be willing to try out ring, phallic, or bit gags but haven't come accross them.

LOL!  Add to it an antique (circa 1910) steel dental chair and a functioning dental drill from the same era, and you've got one heck of an interrogation/terror scene.

my favorite to cum in..is a 2 and 1/2 inch rubber ball with a narrow leather cord that bites deeply into my cheeks
favorite to sleep in , is my red leather fat one with an inch wide leather buckle strap that is very comfy..makes me feel cozy..only there is no way to get air past it at all
so if i have had a good cry its a wee bit scary
the one i will use on my new subbie? is a brand new metal ring gag that will give me plenty of access.

My favorite gags are one custommade leather stuffer gag which completely fills the mouth and almost touches the back.  It is surpricingly comfortable and is easily worn for over 4 hours straight.  The other favorite is inflatable gag which can also be worn for long periods (when not inflated too much) and it can also be used for a breath control (mmmmm[:)]) play.

I really love my silicone ball gag.  It fills my mouth, muffles sounds and I can bite down on it hard without damaging the gag or my teeth.  (So useful when he gets out the tawse, which always makes me scream). Master enjoys the humiliation factor, as one does drool around it a bit.  I also have enjoyed silk scarves, but wet silk can knot rather tightly, so take care.

I have a bit of TMJ, I think it's called; where my jaw is sometimes sore at the joint.  For that reason, ball gags seem to be a hassle in that they make my jaw uncomfortable and take away from anything else that's going on. 
 
Okay..."uncomfortable?...and what's the point?"  I get it...but I'm just sayin'...
 
I really, really like my bit-gag.  It looks nothing line 'pony-play' stuff, it's just a leather strap that buckles behind my head and is threaded through a plastic tube about six inches long; it is this thin, plastic tube I can bite on.  It's soft and flexable...I can freely chew on it without hurting it nor my teeth.  Yup... I like it lots.
 
Jeff... what IS the point of the circular bits?  Okay...don't laugh; I GET what one might pass through the circle; but wouldn't soft lips feel better than a cold, metal ring?  I'm serious here...I don't understand...

Yeah, this has come up a lot.  The consensus is that what you think might pass through the circle usually doesn't fit through--unless someone makes their own gag to, umm, accommodate the necessary apparatus.

I prefer a ballgag to cloth. Yes there's drool with the ballgag but I get dry mouth from the cloth and that seriously interferes with my focus. He also doesn't pull the straps too tightly, so I can push it out enough to swallow and then bring it back to position. This helps.
