How many of the population on here ride motorcycles?

What kind?

How often?

Do you consider yourself a motorcyclist or a biker?

I ride a 1990 Yahama Virago, Nice touring bike.

Ride it everyday..>:)

Would take a VERY big stick to get me to STOP riding it. Have only been dumped 2 times in 25 years of riding. Both times some onehit me and both since moving to Las Vegas.

Sir Daniel, she is a very pretty girl too, lol.

twicehappy -> RE: How many cm members ride? (8/13/2006 12:44:13 PM)

Hmmm... Harley was founded in 1903, it is manufactured in the USA; how old and vintage are these other companies?

P.S., Glad to see you are back to your crabby crappy self  CD, i was getting worried about you.

twicehappy you are either inept or a liar.  I have not changed my profile in the nearly 2 years I have been here.  As I said, I've been R/T over 20 years.  IF you are telling your truthful perceptions, then you are reading someone else's profiles.  More likely you are fabricating.  The fact that you are compelled to lie in a public post about Me to self aggrandize yourself says it all.  At minimum you owe Me and my girl a public apology for your intentional misstatements.  At maximum you might discuss your incivility with those who you purport to serve.

LeMis -> RE: How many cm members ride? (8/13/2006 2:33:32 PM)

I don't ride, as my short legs don't reach the ground, but I am told that they have "bikes" that would fit so that I could safely ride, not sure if I want to do that, hmmmm.....

However my hairdresser friend does have a "bike" and she is on the short side too.

I have ridden on my brother's bikes for years, last yr. one brother bought a "Yumbo" motor scooter and I did drive that around his block a time or two, but he sold it since his gf & her grown son kept wrecking it  [:(] .  It was kind of fun, I even thought seriously about getting one as I work less than 5 miles from home and the speed limit is 45 MPH or less.

It's fun going fast (cheek shaking fast and hair blowing wildly, lol), I have to admit... I had flip-flops (or sandals) on but at least I had long jeans rather than shorts, lol.

I prefer to not arrive at my destination soaking wet, with windblown, knotted hair (it's long),

Dressing for the occasion can solve both of these issues, it just requires 10 seconds or foresight.

or in a body bag.

There's risk in everything we do, do you want to live in a protective bubble all your life?  Besides, according to 2003 figures from the National Safety Council, your odds of dying in a car accident are much greater than dying in a motorcycle accident (1:84 to 1:1020)  [;)]

~stef

The idea of wearing a protective suit and riding around in the 80 degree heat and humidity (rain) would not be nearly as enjoyable as riding in a car with windshield wipers, A/c and a roof... but that's just me.  It's usually those with the motorcycles who are stopped underneath the dry overpass on a rainy day, but if that's fun... go for it.

Well, of course you have greater odds of dying in a car accident.  Look around the average road or parking lot and count the number of motorcycles and the number of cars. But, in your average 45 mph accident,  I bet the motorcycle rider will sustain greater injury than the car driver.

No, I don't live in a protective bubble. The poll asked if I like to ride.... I answered it and stated why I don't ride, like the question asked.   I am not into machinery, or the love of cars or cycles as they aren't my thing.... I might break a nail.  lol   I wouldn't ride a motorcycle even if I felt it was safe. If you like to ride, wonderful... what's the problem?

And,

Thanks Scooter, for the hair tip, but I would rather just not ride, and leave the messing up of my hair for wild sex or something.

cloudboy -> RE: How many of you males ride? (8/13/2006 3:20:07 PM)

The best urban assault vehicle (UAV) is a 125-150cc motor scooter. It zips, it maneuvers, its light, its mod, its gets 80mpg, you beat the traffic, its easy to park, and I could not recommend one enough.

juliaoceania -> RE: How many of you males ride? (8/13/2006 3:51:00 PM)

Thanks cloudboy, I will give this link to my Daddy. He is looking for the best thing to drive around town and to work. He talks about Vespas, but maybe this would suit his purposes too.

Harley now has several models that are shorter to the ground. Mistress and i are both 5'2 and when we went shopping at the local HD dealership we both found one that we could sit on with our feet flat on the ground.

and one other thought.  I'd changed my profile to say that I was worried if I added a note about my new relationship, the Fates would intervene.  Well, I said it, and they did.  I'm back.  Bruised a bit, but undaunted.

Exactly who lied?

Aileen68 -> RE: How many cm members ride? (8/13/2006 7:19:24 PM)

My better half just got a Heritage Softail Classic about five months ago.
I get to ride with him about once a week.  I love it.

twicehappy -> RE: How many cm members ride? (8/13/2006 7:23:03 PM)

Give him my kudos on both his good luck and good taste. Enjoy!

DiurnalVampire -> RE: How many cm members ride? (8/13/2006 7:25:34 PM)

I am too short to ride the bikes I like and have yet to find one I like that I fit.
For now, I am doomed to be a passenger. Maybe, though, once we are together, I can get my boy to get noe.  He is tall enough to ride one I like, I can just enjoy the view. (Besides, he'd look pretty good on a bike)

Twice, Emperor and I exchange emails sometimes, his other profile states he trains and mentors and has more than one relationship... Perhaps like your situation the party in his journal was a third? He has always mentioned his sub in emails to me...Just because your owners got you doesn't mean they weren't together for many years before they found you.. just some thoughts. Not really any of my business anyways

For the record, I am this proverbial slave.  Rest assured that E and I have had an in-the-flesh relationship for many months now and neither of our profiles have changed in at least that long (adding to the journal is not changing a profile, just to clarify).  There are many here who have met either one or both of us in person and said so here in the forums. Yes, perhaps you have somehow missed all of those comments, but that's no excuse for making things up to further your own agenda.  Regardless, it would seem that either you are reading the wrong profiles on the other side or deliberately promoting lies about us both.

Also for the record, neither he nor I bear any lingering thoughts towards you and yours.  You're not even on our radar except in the times that you post, in which case either of us may respond to what is written.  Don't flatter yourself imagining that we are specifically interested in you or think of you at all -- you are a poster on the board like everyone else.  Post in public and your words are fair game for comment from anyone.  Post about me and you'll hear about it, especially when you imply that I don't really exist.  Don't like any of those realities? Tough - such is the nature of the CM Message Forums.

Charmed as always,

~Holly

I just purchased my Buddy after my MZ got stolen, vandalized, and otherwise totaled some four weeks ago.

I test drove a Vespa 150, which had a very smooth ride --- but it was somewhat staid in its ride --- almost Cadillac-y. The Buddy was zippier and more maneuverable (plastic frame.) The Buddy 125 was also faster (over 60mph) than the Vespa 150, and it cost about $2k less out the door.

So, I decided on the Buddy.

The Vespa is very classy, though, and it looks great.

I think he likes the whole new wave mythos behind the Vespa, he told me stories about Vespa clubs and stuff, it would have to be cooler than than Saturn club my mom was invited into when I bought her one of those...laughing
