Yes this was written by me!

EQUIPMENT: HANDCUFFS/CUFFS

Ok, I have been checking around on information on Handcuffs.....Is it me or is there tons of places to buy them but not alot of real information on Handcuffs themselves? You know uses, styles, materials, ect. So therefore I have decided to write about them and give as much knowledge about them as I know. Please remember If I have left anything out yell it out at me this way we all know in case there is something I forgot to say about them.

USES:

Now we all know cops definately have handcuffs and use them to detain people who are accused formally, by the cops, of wrongful acts. We also know that during sex sometimes they are used to make things more interesting. In BDSM we use them to detain our partners from moving while we make them squirm etc. Of course handcuffs aren't always used on the wrists....they can be used on the genital area, fingers, toes, thighs, legs, arms, on the ankles, ears, and for you persons with tounge rings they even have cuffs for the tounge. Which we call those Genital cuffs, finger cuffs, thumb cuffs, toe cuffs, thigh cuffs, leg cuffs, arm cuffs, ankle cuffs, ear cuffs, and toung cuffs. I have noted also they have pinkie cuffs which are really cute. But anyways back to the subject at *excuse the pun* hand. There are so many styles of cuffs out there I suggest only to get what you need and are able to use easily. If your not sure on what to get then you can ask your local store personal or anyone you know in the lifestyle. Most are always happy to give you a good suggestion on style and let you know their personal preferences. And if your still not sure I don't know what to tell ya LOL! j/k Just pick yourself up a starter pack for BDSM and that will give you the basics. Handcuffs, blindfold, tickler, mini flogger and some lube. < That is what usually comes in a starter pack. At least the ones I have seen. :D

Sinse I have mentioned the tounge cuffs I would like to further explain that one. For a couple who each person has their tounges peirced can now cuff their tounges together. One cuff goes in one tounge and the other cuff goes in the partners tounge. When I saw that for the first time I thought it was quite interesting and erotic. Talk about having ALOT of trust with that one. One person makes the wrong move and RIP bye bye tounge.

TYPES/MATERIALS USED FOR CUFFS:

Plastic and Metal are the two products generally used in making cuffs, but there are leather cuffs too. When I say metal we are talking anything from Iron to Titanium Alloy. Now as far as types there are the good old fashioned metal cuffs, kiddie cuffs (childrens toy cuffs that have a button you push to release them), magic cuffs(Used mostly for magic tricks and by Magicians), fur cuffs, leather cuffs, plastic cuffs, and zippy cuffs(zip ties that are used as handcuffs...yes cops use those). Don't get me wrong you can make cuffs from rope, cloth or belts basically just about anything. But those are the main types that are use in the pre fashioned cuffs.

SAFETY:

With any equipment used during a session with your partner there is always safety issues to be taken into account. Same goes with cuffs. You have to make sure that the cuffs arent to tight cutting of circulation. You have to make sure that the cuffs are comfortable and not rubbing to much or skin may rub off. You have to make sure that when your partner is squirming that they arent injuring themselves while the cuffs are on; because whether or not ya all realize it there are sharp points on cuffs. You have to make sure your partners are not lying wrong in event they may injure themselves. You have to make sure your partner is not sitting wrong with the cuffs on in even that they fall over and injure theirselves. Remember you have detained them in an unnatural position and one good fall could cause a breakage of bones or a joint put out of place.

CLEANING OF THE CUFFS:

METAL CUFFS all you have to do is wipe them down with some alcohol and your good to go.

PLASTIC CUFFS and KIDDIE CUFFS have the same technique when cleaning them as the metal cuffs.

FUR CUFFS are a bit harder because there is the fur factor. With fur cuffs I suggest hot soapy water and rinse thoroughly....Hang to dry and brush out.

LEATHER CUFFS wash with leather soap and hot water then make sure you put leather oil on it after its dry so the leather doesn't crack and fade.

ZIPPY CUFFS no washing there just toss them. Very cheap and very reliable cuffs. Easily removed with just a flick of a blade. Also leaves little to no marks and once you put them on you easily adjust them close to the skin for comfort of the partner.

Final Thought: Be safe Be well and Happy Playing.

One thing I've learnt is to be very careful with metal cuffs - if you use them at all... Most of those on sale are dangerous as they are able to slip tighter and thus damage bone... Cuffs should require the key to be inplace and turned to both open and close/tighten the cuff.

Leather cuffs and rope are much better/safer ;)

Most handcuffs produced in recent history have a double locking mechanism that prevents them from being over-tightened once applied. If you have bargain basement handcuffs that lack this feature, throw them in the trash bin where they belong. Unless your particular kink is nerve and tendon damage, that is.

In regards to actual handduffs:

I have found that tennis bands, or sports bands (I'm not sure of the official name) are a great way to avoid damange done by unexpected movements, or for long term wear.

In the tennis world they're called wrist bands. Thanks for the suggestion, now I have another use for my old ones. I also use them for golf for cleaning mud off my ball.

i think the thumb/toe cuffs are the coolest. they aren't so bulky, and they are just as effective. i have a couple pair!

Thumbcuffs are neat too (especially for foot bondage with the big toes), but they're also far more likely to cause damage since there is greatly reduced contact area and no flex.

Ownership of handcuffs in New York State by anyone that was not a peace officer of
some sort was outlawed a few years ago. Rent-a-cops in NY that have them have
to have attended some sort of school and actually gotten a state peace officer status.

From what I can gather all real police, state, county, city are peace officers, but not
all private security guards are. I have no clue where this all came from or what
it all means. I just report the news.

It came frome the fact that there were to many criminals getting their hands on cuffs, mostly rapists, and using them for illegal activities. That is why they passed that law. BUT you can still get kiddie cuffs and magic cuffs and fur cuffs etc .......... just not regular handcuffs ................

Ebay is a great source for cuffs of all styles.

I have been keeping my eye on a few unique, and antique sets.

I have made my own steel cuffs, if i've got the hang of this thing there's a pic attached- not all mine but mostly:) Over time my cuffs have got heavier! One set I made were commisioned by someone who ran a commercial dungeon but they never got back to me about them. They are 3/8" thick by 2" wide mild steel and you do know you're wearing them!
