gack, united cutlery.

For the most part, they sell cool shit, but it's not high-quality. You really get what you pay for.

Seconded. Not exactly the best stuff out there. Pretty, though.

My personal favourite has always been: http://www.angelsword.com/

But at their prices I am not likely to be buying one anytime soon. Also, because of the way their swords are made they are considered restricted weapons here and I would need all kinds of special permits to import one.

cheers
VG

Here are a couple of my favorite sites for custom made knives.

http://www.knifeart.com/
http://elitecustomknives.com/
http://www.steeladdictionknives.com/

I make and collect custom made knives but there are some good production knives out there. (Usually not made by United :-)

depends on what your after them for. i own a few United Cutlery swords and they are pretty high quality (you cant hack much to death with them but theres really no need. they do fine for swordplay etc). Bugei are amazing quality and 'live' so can take a hell of a beating but are pretty sharp so its advisable not to use them near anyone.

Have to disagree with you Dread. I won't own a blade that can't take punishment. One longsword that I have is guaranteed for two years in battle. Since I have used it to cut branches off a fir tree.. I believe the guarantee! The stress relieved by chopping that branch off with that sword...

That is awesome. I've accidently sliced myself with a few of my swords (hazards of learning a new form I guess ) but not anything nearly as cool as chopping branches. Maybe I'll offer to help my mother with the yard work this spring, I don't have a yard or any trees, but she does. Hmmm, I do have a small cutting from my old roommate's plant cross-breeding thesis, but that is too precious to chop up (I'm really lucky that it is still alive, I tend to kill plants. My roommate, she had about 30 in our room and was cross-breeding most of them, very cool).

Ok, this is the end of my rambling post, I think it is time for me to sleep. If this doesn't make sense when I look at it in the morning then I will delete it.

I run and own http://www.darkempire.co.uk/

As a keen collector of knives daggers and swords I know that there are all sorts of qualities of knives and swords out there. Its important to buy the best quality you can afford and the the most suitable for the main use your going to put the knife or sword to. We supply collectors, re-enactors, matial artists, fencers and folk though-out the Lifestyle with knives that are suitable for the function they want to use it for.

We source from many suppliers round the world but wont buy poor quality and all the knives we sell will take an edge unless we stipulate otherwises. Please have a look at our website, if you have a type of knife in mind email us with what your looking for , what use your going to put it to and we will email you back with a suggested selection to look at over a price range. If we dont have a suitable knife we will say so and if we know who does we will direct yu to them. We want to maintain our good reputation.

I used to carry a Benchmade until I got a custom knife made by A.T. "Don't you buy no ugly knife" Barr:
http://www.customknives.com/default.htm

Quality knives and a quality maker...

My favorite custom knife site...pricy, but well worth a look; especially the folding knives, bowies and damascus blades oooh lala
