Just about anyone whom lived befor the 50s used some form of Dominant/submissive type lifestyle. It was a part of the culture in those days. The baby boomers the 50 to 65 age group are the largest group of people ever born in the USA and most lived and learned to be in the Male Dominant type of living which most have held onto thruout their lifes or Lived under the Rivet Gal Dominant Woman and the roles switched in war times. Yep I beleive the number 5 and 6 best fit whom is most into BDSM in the USA.

I said 51-60. Primarily because when I was searching for a Dom and going to many munches. People were a minimum of 20 year's older than I was. It made for a very frustrating time finding the right dom for me. I used to have nightmares we'd be in the middle of playing and he would have a heart attack. Even when he didn't have a face yet.

I would say that most of the men who contact me and most of the women that I have become clsoe to in the lifestyle are between 40 and 50... Perhaps that's because people often don't find this side of themselves until they are older, or perhaps it's just something to do with the region I'm in... I don't know... But I'd say that is the most popular age group. IndySubPrincess

I think the older people are more visible, but the younger of us are here too. We're just often scared to show ourselves.

That's what I've found too. Most people don't discover/realize/accept that they are dominant or submissive until they are in their 40's. There are exceptions, but most epiphanies I've known have occurred in middle age. I would actually say from about 35 years onwards. I have been attending functions for some years and watched the ages get younger. Definitely seem to be getting younger females in both roles attending. Both sydney and melbourne australia have under thirties groups so that age group can feel comfortable (not a member sadly longsince past that age group) regards LA

Actually, it seems to me that the younger ones are more outgoing with their lifestyle at their age than the ones who are older [still a little guarded]. I also beleive it depends on the geographical location. People in the lifestyles in the larger cities like DC, NY, Cali etc. and younger are really a little more open as opposed to those in smaller cities and towns where everybody knows your name and every move.

~ interesting question but not a very clear one. I was a newbie when I was in my early 20s, but found I was more active in my 40s.
