Scorpio, I just looked up your profile and you're in Calif.
Man! They have some Draconian laws *against* owning or carrying firearms in your state!
You guys need to get some good people into state govt. and clean that mess up!
Guns do work! Remember the Korean shopkeepers and the riots back in.....1992. (?)
In this state (South Carolina) you can carry a loaded firearm (Hand gun) in your car as long as it's in the glove box or the console.
No "permit" needed.
That'd be a "felony" in Calif!
There are a few states that are thinking about doing away with the "permitting" process all together under the school of thinking that "you shouldn't need a "permit" to excercise a right."
You don't need a "permit" to excercise your right to free speech or to vote or for any other of the "rights" in the Bill of Rights."
In Vermont if you wish to carry a loaded gun under your coat you just do so. No "permits" of any kind needed in that state.

Except for a few it seems one disturbed person is getting advise from a whole slew of disturbed people. Here is my advise, Ok your going to need a thermonuclear bomb (check wallmart). Your also going to need a pony, a number two pencil, one pack of instant Jello (green works best,) seven paper clips, one tampon (unused) get those together. Now i can't help you from here but will say this one time at band camp.....
Also i would call the NAACP first then the ACLU and do not forget to call Fish and Wildlife you never know if this guy is a liberal man bear pig.

Someone may of already said this... But wouldn't the people with the most experience regarding a stalker and securing your home be the police...? Have them check your house and advice you on the best ways to stay safe...

If you live in California, the state has great stalking laws.

i have not been able to read all of this thread, but i have read enough to suggest you call the police. The police can advise you what to do to make yourself safer, and possibly their presence will detour the one who is not leaving you alone...

depends on what state you live in. i know in NJ you are not allowed to use "force" that isn't equal to theirs, ie if they have a gun you can, if they have a baseball bat and you have a gun....you can't use it unless its to hit him over the head. i know this personally as far as in jersey. a friend of mine and his wife were sleeping someone broke in and he was trying to rape the wife. my friend shot and killed the guy and he was put in jail for murder...he's still there that was 5 years ago. the reason was the guy didn't have a gun and he used force that was equal to the intruder.

Whatever you decide to do - and I am not advising you to do anything whatever here, remember this: one witness equals one story. Problems arise mainly when there are two stories ("he said, she said" scenarios).

If you are clever about the information being given to you there won't be any problems. But even if there were a problem I would prefer to be charged with some trumped up pretended offense than to suffer injury at the hands of some loon. But that's just me...

By all means use every legal resource available to you. Exhaust them. Make sure the police are aware of the situation. Have friends and witnesses around you if at all possible to avoid any kind of confrontation from the outset. But you know how it is, this is one of those deals where you have to have a Plan A, and then a Plan B, and then a Plan C. Think it through ahead of time. Act as is necessary based on your plans.

You absolutely have the right to protect yourself by every means that becomes necessary!

Others responding to this post are correct,do not give out private or security information on this site or any other.It occurs that it is possible that those that wish to cause distress,your stalker or any other of a like mind may use this site,and may be enjoying your fear,do not give them the satisfaction.Go to the police,and let them deal with it and beware in future.

Angeltighigh, that is why I won't live in a state like N.J., N.Y. , Mass, or Calif; their idiotic gun laws!
There were a number of factors involved in me choosing to live in S. Carolina and the laws were one of those factors as well as great weather, nice people, cheap real estate taxes, cheap housing, plenty of restaurants, golf courses, plenty of things to do etc.

If a person can show they felt their life was in danger they are allowed to take whatever action they feel is necessary in order to save their life, including lethal means. It seems as though there maybe a slight gender bias, all a woman has to do is say she felt her life threatened in California to protect herself. It is due to our anti-stalker, anti-domestic abuse laws that this has developed. California is not where you want to stalk and threaten women, it will not go over very well.

We take domestic abuse seriously and we have a law here that states doctors must report suspected domestic violence. I have thought about informing my doctor about my BDSM activities in order to head off any kind of suspected abuse charge. I am still considering it.

California is safer than Texas the last I heard when it came to violent crime, and we have tougher gun laws. It is not the gun laws that make a place unsafe, it is the people that live there.

As much as I hate to blaspheme against the gospel of "Guns solve all problems." This is a bad idea. Period.

If Susan isn't comfortable with and familiar with the use of her weapon, then she'll freeze up when the time comes to use it. And she can't develop this comort and familiarity overnight; that's why they train soldiers and police in the use of their weapons instead of just handing them out and saying "Here 'ya go. Again, reluctance to kill is something that soldiers and police are given lengthy training to overcome. Training, I should add, which she does not have time to acquire. In either event, if she hesitates, or starts playing the "Not another step closer. I mean it!" game, he has the opportunity to close and get his hand on the gun. Now he's in control of the situation, he's pissed off, and he has a loaded weapon at hand if he wants it. That's not helpful.

If she must get a weapon, her best bet by far would be pepper spray. It's more intuitive to use, and she won't have to overcome an ingrained reluctance to kill before she squeezes the trigger. She doesn't have to load it while panicking, and it will incapacitate long enough for her to get help, which is all she'll really need. Trying to send the guy home in a body bag is far more risky and, despite how gratifying it may look in the movies, it's a very traumatic experience for most people.

OK D, let's see... Notice that I earlier said it's better to use hands than weapons, just to settle that... As for my doing time, I am happy to say I have never found myself in such a position, or having to make the choice -- how about you yourself?... I freely admit I don't know Nebraska laws... I agree that nothing should be done to cause Susan any extra hassle, can't argue that one... In the end, if the cops can handle it, so much the better.

Great points....if you are not proficient and comfortable with guns....you should NOT have one.

Not to mention....we are talking about a woman who could not summon enough courage to tell a creepy stranger to get lost...or even tell him she wasn't interested. Now suddenly you all expect her to find enough backbone to take a life? Come one folks....Susan has been posting long enough to get a little insight into her personality. Even with a shotgun in her hand I don't think I'd see her as an intimidating force to be reckoned with.....no offense Susan, you just seem a bit on the "sweet and meek" side for gunfights at the OK Corral.
