People with multiple profiles (and inaccurate ones) are nothing new. Sounds like the frustration of seeking and not finding someone you like is one source of your frustration. I commend you on outing the one fake you mentioned. It's a drag to find out somebody is misrepresenting themself.

I have met several good subs here. Don't give up.

Hang in there...

I have had my photos used in bogus profiles. The real people really don't have any control in this once they post their own photo. Sure you can report it & the site administrators may actually pull the profile or just the photo but how can we real people ensure that there are not multiple sites out there with our photos on it? Just let these people ever try to pass themselves off as me... I got one heck of a tat that they are going to play hell trying to duplicate.

As a precaution you could always ask the people you interview to take a new photo & hold up a message like the day's date or similar. Most everyone these days has a webcam or a digital camera... or at least someone that has one. If you really need people to validate themselves to you then simply ask them. They may not comply & they may even be offended by the request but at least you remove the concern from your mind & you can move on.

Crap.  I just uploaded my photos before I read this.  In future I'll make sure my photos have plenty of hairy man-boob cleavage.  The sexy kind.  That's kind of hard to replicate.

Could these awful people be subverting one of the AA mantras? Fake it til you make it.
It really doesn't apply in these contexts...but monkey hear, monkey try to do, may prevail.
It really doesn't take too long to figure out who is who...as long as you aren't searching too hard( desperation mode) and allow emotion to fog intuition and judgement.

Even the ones you get to meet face to face can be fakes. It's a crap shoot-you roll the dice and see what turns up-no guarantees of a winner.

With the internet brings many things, one of which is the ability to search and seek what you desire. In that search you must always HOPE FOR THE BEST AND UNDERSTAND IF YOU ARE MISLEAD.

Searching online allows you to find people with similar interests, most LIE,many expand the truth, and a VERY few are who they say they are. It is that search for the true one for you that you need that keeps you here looking. It is also the constant false or outright fake profiles that slow you down.

As a male you will probably listen logically, some females ONLY listen with their hearts and are CONSTANTLY RIPPED OFF  ( girls hold the flame replies). My experience is look for clues that will either make you comfortable with the new person or put up a red flag.No matter what ALWAYS REMEMBER REAL PEOPLE ALSO EXIST HERE, and IF you are real then never give up until you get what you want and or ready to handle.

Back around 6 yrs ago I had an amusing taste of internet fakes.  I was on aol in a chat room and having chatted with these people for a year or more we decided to do a Pic exchange.
There were quite a few of us at the time, and the exchange went on over the week.  I passed my pic around to people I though I knew quite well.  About 4 days into the pic trade I got a pic back from a woman named sharon.
The pic said, "this is me an average woman."
When I opened it, it was me.
In fact, the "this is me an average woman"  was even in my text when I sent it out.
I messenged her and said laughingly, thinking it was a mistake.. "gee, you look so familar"
She said, "everyone tells me that.  I guess I look like the woman next door."
It dawned on me that it might not be a case of mistaken pic exchange.. so I said "what is that in the background?"  In my pic I had an ocean scene that was only partially visible.
She said, it is a picture of the beach."

Ok,, that was enough for me.  I told her, "Sharon, this is a picture of me."  That was the last time I saw her online.  Not too much later there was someone who came online claiming that Sharon had passed away and wanted to let her friends know she thought of them.

Such drama.
But it did teach me never to post a pic again.  Or send them out to strangers without caution.

I am new to the site,I am interested to know what every ones experience has been with the people on here. I have seen different profiles that have the same pix on them claiming to be diff. people. I even had contact with a person here that said she ws someone and it turned out that she was not at all who see claimed to be, I caught her, and she just disappeared and her profile was gone as well. Are their any REAL people on here? I am for real and I am shocked and pissed at the idea of a bunch of fakes are here.Has anyone else had this experiance?

It's impossible to control the behavior of others especially on the internet unless that person seeks control.  The people who need to see rants usually don't nor would they recognize themselves.

i can only BE kind, honest, and polite.  i return all emails with a kind response even if it is a polite refusal.  It would be nice if others could show common courtesy, but if they don't it's not a reflection on me nor should i worry about it.

Longrider....it's a weeding process at best, but yes, certainly there are real people out there, and by real, I mean honest folks who really do have a clue what they are looking for. Don't get all bummed out by a few deleted profiles and unanswered messages, just accept that you have joined in with many of us scaring the players off. The two most important people in my life I have met through the internet, although there have been many potholes and bumps on that road I will admit. Just adjust your suspension for a rough ride and in the end, who knows...maybe there's a softail out there built just for you.

I didn't have time to read all the posts to your question but I was dissapointed in the first 5 or 6  and their mocking attitude. I understand when someone feels the need to vent maybe get a little compassion from other legitimate site users. But no all they do is mock. Shame on you for not taking the high road and be classy. What help or consolation do you give to someone who is already feeling pain and seeks reassurance. With all the fakes and phoneys out there you'd think we could hang together a little more.
