I think the popularity contests are silly and have gotten out of hand in times past, but I don't think people should be upset. Depending on who is giving the props, it's often a higher honor to not make the list.

If you are happy with yourself... who cares who pats you on the back today... online, there's a good chance the same person will stab you in the back tomorrow anyway.

Those who are my favorite posters likely already know they are... so I will just wave.

As I read the superlative and the crush threads, all I saw was the same names popping up over and over. The posters were basically from these forums "downstairs" as Deb puts it. I love how people complained about these things until their name are mentioned, (And their name get mentioned because they bitch about it til it does) then they love the threads. I say if you want to thank your favorite poster or you want to tell them you have a crush on them, then do it. Don't disguise it as yet another popularity contest here. What are we, 8 years old here? There are so many intelligent people who have great opinions on the boards "upstairs" who never get mentioned in these stupid things. I am not talking about me either. I could care less about whether people find me "the most..." anything, or that someone wants to name me as their favorite CM poster. I know who likes me and I know who doesn't. But the point is, these things are only meant to boost the ego's of those who know damn well they will be mentioned, and crush the ego's of those who care whether they are mentioned at all.

Right on the nose. Ya'll pat each other on the back and talk so highly of each other, then the same people who "loved you" this week will be slamming you in the forums and in emails next week.

I'm with Benji on this, I will not read any future threads about who is the best on CM, who has a crush on who, who is the prettiest, who is the sexiest and who gives the best blowjobs. But I wanted to let my own feelings known about this shit before I stop responding to them. Oh, and save your "If you dont like what is said, don't read it" comments. I think I am smart enough to figure that out already. But as it is so often pointed out, everyone has a right to say what they want to here. I am using that option now. Have a good day.

I agree. It is for that reason that I did not contribute nor read most of other such threads. I also regret a bit naming favorites in this thread. On the other hand, it is nice to get and give a little bit of recognition. I do not want other people to feel hurt for not being named specifically, though. Perhaps such threads should be limited to the opening post only.
