1. Seven Samurai
Akira was many years ahead of his time and his techniques and aproach to storytelling totaly changed the way films where shot. This seminal work is also a damn fine film in its own right.

2. Lord of the rings
So OK I am technicaly cheating as it is three films, but really is best watched as a 12 hour, back to back showing. Whilst there are minor things I could have wished he'd done diffrently (WTF did he have to put ELVES in helms deep FFS!!!!) it was so well cast, well shot and well told that trying to better it would be rather futile. Draw a line under making Lord of the rings, Peter Jacksons vision is as good as it is going to get.

3.Star wars: A new hope
The Movie that moved Sci-fi from B movie schlock into blockbuster mainstream and at the same time gave us one of the worlds most enduring iconic villians in Darth Vader. Great Music too.

1. The Ref (OMG, Dennis Leary is so freaking funny in this! My favorite comedy)
2. Gone With The Wind
3. The Pianist (With Adrien Brody, 2002)

There are so many more. It is hard to just list three. I am such a movie junkie it is rediculous. At one time I owned over 700 movies. I have scaled down <g>

Edited to clarify which Pianist movie I like.

Oh noooooooo wayyyyyyyy could I pick just three, not even thirty!!! I love good movies and if you all saw the DVD and VHS collection at the farm you would understand. It is as eclectic as my music tastes. What I love varies with the mood I am in. Would be easier to say what I don't like to be honest.
