In my opinion, if a slave has no physical limitations and no job outside of the home....a clean house is a perfectly reasonable expectation.

I agree.
I have done the job whilst looking after the home, and for me, it could be done.  I see alot of people complain that looking after a home is difficult.  Well it is difficult, but it is just like any other 'job' - you train, you learn.  Then you become more adept at it.  Not every person is cut out to run a home, just as not every person is just out to be a doctor or an accountant.  Some people would just fade away and wither if they had to be a stay at home and that happens so much.  I believe if a person is complaining that there isnt enough hours in a day to deal with housework, or they complain that they get it all done and then have nothing to do - then the dominant should be looking into the reason why and deal with it.  It could be that their submissive/slave just isnt cut out for domestic service.  Being a submissive or slave doesn't automatically make you capable of doing a set agenda.

Greetings Padriag old friend,

I'm a practical bloke with a little experience in a few areas. My methology is based on the realization tyhat no matter how well you set up a schedual, it will come into contact with the First law of Murphy "What ever can go wrong will go wrong". It should be reasonable to set oput the routine duties, daily, weekly, and monthly, for a slave or servant. However whan other areas crop up like extraneous grounds keeping, pruning, re planting the flower or vegie gardens, or a spring clean or even for that matter renovations, the master should, if he is able, remove his coat and ties and don a working smock and become intimately involved with the tasks which need doing. It maybe that he needs to hire additional temp staff of course but that will depend on his means..

There is also a great deal of time eaten up playing chauffeur for after school activities. One does basketball and the other does gymnastics. One needs tutoring twice a week and another needs physical therapy for six months. Or ongoing therapy if they have any problems.

If you spend all day driving around getting errands done, then you aren't also at home weeding the garden.

Laundry here is done once a week and is a full day job of about eight loads, as my oldest rides horses and every trip to the barn involves an entire outfit becoming dirty. And if I'm at the barn for an hour watching her lesson rather than driving her there, coming home for half an hour and then returning, then I'm not at home for that hour doing anything.

The time you're doing one thing means you can't spend that time doing something else and often you just have to choose.

I don't mind doing heavy cleaning like cleaning out the bathrooms, cleaning the fridge, taking out the trash etc.

Just a random thought I had while reading another thread.  It was suggested elsewhere that housework should only take a few hours and therefore stay at home slaves who complain about it are just being lazy.  My first thought on this was... well... it depends.

Its one thing if a slave is only required to keep a 800 sq ft (about 74m sq for our metric friends) apartment clean, with no children in the house and moderate standards.

Its quite another to expect a slave to keep a 6,000 sq ft (557m sq) country estate clean, to high standards, with 3 young children running about.

Significant increase in the work load and in the later case I give it a week before said slave starts begging for a slave sister! [:D]

So here's a thought for discussion.  What's reasonable for a slave to manage alone?  How much housework, under what conditions, is fair?  What's easy?  What's unreasonable?

Food for thought

None of this discussion includes how much "stuff" each person brings to the place to be cleaned. I've been "housekeeping" for over 30 yrs now including kids and different size places. The amount of stuff you can stuff in a room also says how long its going to take to clean.. If you are the feather duster type, or prefer pledge and a good cloth, you could be anywhere from 10 min dusting to 500min dusting (the time it takes to move all that stuff to dust it.)  Each task can take much longer if there is a lot of "stuff" to move to accomplish it. If the Master or the slave or both are packrats, multiplication becomes a major factor in time it takes to clean. The less stuff you have jammed in each room the faster it gets cleaned and the easier it is to maintain.

I've been doing all the housework and chores for a 4000 sq ft house for the last 30 years as well as taking care of 6 acres outside and helping Him with his business.  It's more than a full time job. I think i am ready to move to something smaller, maybe on a golf course.[:)]

I believe I read somewhere that a stay at home mom is valued at 150K...

I've heard that too.  And it's BS.

Someone I know has a 20 000 square foot house, and has 3 cleaning staff there, plus a chef, and house manager.

Now, at this house, 2, 4 course meals are cooked and served daily, laundry is done daily, the house is SPOTLESS, the pool is maintained, a total of 14 bathrooms cleaned, 4 bedrooms, all the coffee makers, minibars, and fruit bowls restocked, and, of course, the residents' requests taken care of.  Oh yeah, then there's the boat, boathouse, guesthouse, cars to be refueled & cleaned, shoes to be polished & straightened, and other such small tasks.  Oh yeah, all of this without being in the same room as a resident or guest.  Which means that if you're cleaning a room, and someone walks in, you pack up and leave without comment.

THIS doesn't even cost much more than 150 k.  Granted, add in some kids, and it would cost more, but not more than a nanny(30k?  40?).

Granted, this is in Canada, so it would be a bit more in the States, but still, 150 k is way off.

Yours,

benji

Anything is possible when a owner makes a schedule for his slave to follow. Maybe splitting up jobs or rooms by day of the week . Some don't like this due to the micromanaging factor. I desire a schedule so im apt to do exactly what he wishes at all times.

while Master and i do not yet live together i have done the 24/7 thing before.

the only thing Master requires of me is that i do a little bit at a time, be it that by the end of the day the bathroom and one of my two bedrooms is done. then the following day i do the other, perhaps vacuum the hallway and bedrooms etc etc.

Master says that just a little at a time is the best way to do it and that way i don't get burned out as easily, He also says that if i need to take a break that is okay too.

Master has told me that doing things like the bathroom one day, the spare room the next, my room the next, so and so on until it is done is also allowed, however i prefer to do two or three rooms a day so that by the end of the week i don't have much to do.

i have 2 bedrooms, 2 storage rooms, my living room which is combined with my dining room and my kitchen so it's not too much to handle, but throw in laundry once a week, grocery shopping, paying bills and having time for myself it's not easy to do.

that is why i prefer to do at least 2 rooms a day, the laundry at least twice a week when i can, grocery shopping gets done once a month as that's when i get paid, bills get paid at the end of the month and time for myself is when Master is at work or not available.

i have had to clean a house that had 4 bedrooms, 2 bathrooms, 1 half bath, a dining room, living room, basement, den, dungeon, kitchen and then there was the back porch i had to clean so compared to that i know i have it easy.

i say as long as they have an understanding of what needs doing on a daily, weekly and monthly schedule then they are set.

i vacuum twice a week unless i think it needs doing more often, i wash the walls once a month, the kitchen floor gets done once a week, the bathroom gets a thorough cleaning once a week other than that it gets a wipe down at least once every other day, and it goes on from there.

set a schedule to do things once a week, once a month and daily, talk about things and if something is not working out then it needs revising....... JMO.

Blessed Be and i do apologize for the ramblings of my post, but i am exhausted and have one doozy of a migraine so am off to rest a bit.
