Hello all,
I posted this on the other board as well, sorry if you read it twice...  We are planning to throw our first lifestyle party... any feedback on activities you have enjoyed or hated would be great.

It will be in our home with a small mixed group of swingers and D/s friends.  Is having a theme a good idea?  What about any icebreakers?

Would love to hear about good/ bad experiences you've had.

Invite only secure D/s people.
Have an area that is social only
If you have any extreme or even harsh players ensure the swingers understand what they are doing is okay
As for icebreakers, a demonstration of some of the more fluffy stuff like how to do a sensual spanking and explain the process of mixing pain into the pleasure stream

I love a game of "pin the tail on the sub" *chuckles*, I think CD gave excellent advice and I hope the mix works and the party is a huge success. I tried to host a mixed private party once and it was not all that succesful. The best event I host that is pansexual is a Freaker's Ball, and it is a great time, however it is a non-play event. Good luck and have fun.

A theme.. hmm.. depends on if you are aiming for elegant or cheesy. *grin* You could try an elegant theme in a psuedo victorian style with lots of candelabra, white tablecloths, flowers, and a couple accent peices you could pick up at a yardsale or cheap antique store or whatever. There's the ever popular "goth" or "dungeon" style, black wall hangings, blood red candles, a couple gargoyles looming over everything... you've probably already got the chains. [;)] Or hell, you could go all the way cheesy and make it a hawaiian luau! I could make a really bad pun here about "leis" for the swingers, but I won't.
Just make sure the swingers know whats going on with the BDSM'ers and no one is going to be taken by surprise.

Well, since this is a first get together, and a small group, about 10.. it wont be too elaborate. And considering we are in China... Cheesy is not a bad idea! hehe

Any ideas for icebreakers? Cheesy included?

I don't know how good an idea it is to mix kink and swingers at a play party - I would definately advise that you set up different "areas" such as a social lounge, a flogging area, etc.  so that if guests are uncomfortable with what's going on, there's somewhere else they can go.  You definately want to load up on bottled water, some sugary snacks (helps with drop after play) as well as things like cut up fruit and cheese or other protein.  Have lots of spare towels, as well as a large first aid kit and cleaning supplies.

Light demos are great ice breakers - I remember a party last year where the host was doing fire cupping - I don't think anyone left that night without round welts LOL   Something like that lets people get into the spirit of things - allows them to try a little something new and non-threatening.

Theme parties can be fun.  Sir and I had a formal dinner party last year.  As guests arrived, a pony girl in full regalia was the door person.  There was a human candelabra in bondage on the dining table, holding 2 red candles... we released her after about 25 min, so we could set the table.

Dinner was served by carefully "attired" naked servants - and the servants were switched out frequently so that there were different servers for each course, and servants had a chance to eat in the other room.

Following dinner, we relaxed together for social time.  Some BDSM play happened in one room, two bedrooms were set aside for intimate interaction... and everyone was on "company manners" the whole time.

It was quite successful, and a lot of fun.

So would that go with a polka dot theme?
