CatchTP -> Why are they called training gags? (9/5/2006 7:51:09 PM)

Just wondering why head harnesses with gags are called trainig gags.  Wouldn't it be easier to "train" with a gag that has one strap?

No, but I have wondered why you park on a driveway and drive on a parkway.

I have no idea either, but I like the word, "Tainer". I have one and much prefer it over the standard Ball Gag. It does have Metal Rings on each side of it for Reins or what ever, so maybe that's the Training part of it?

Wish I had a Mistress to put me in mine now, BalletBob

Well, I don't have much equestrian knowledge, but I believe the term is somehow related to the harnesses that are used on the head of a horse. At least that's always been my assumption, but I don't know where that assumption originally came from. On a side note: "trainer" gags are often called "harness" gags as well from my experience.

These type of gags most closely resemble the type of headstall that one would use when training horses. Instead of a full bit being inserted into the mouth, it has a piece that is straight that goes thru the mouth rather than into the mouth of the horse. We used them to exercise a horse and also for training them to jump adn perform while not mounted.  After putting a horse thru the desired course several times with a training headstall, we would then put a regualr bit into the horses mouth and saddle the horse adn then ride it thru the course. I hope this helps to explain it somewhat.

Ah yes, the lovely look of a secured trainer!... I would think that the trainer gag was designed to help re-inforce the feeling of being gagged and in a "in your face way". I like training gags for the simple purpose they stay in place, and that they are much higher on the strictness scale versus a single strap etc. to keep a gag on... Trainers dont come off unless the Dominant wants them off I find...

Trainer gags simply cause a more restrained feel . They also are used more for puppy , pony play. I have a few head harness gags ive worn. They feel very secure and you can't get them off(they lock too).

Lol as an anti-snoring device! A good tidbit of knowledge for the Dominanats, and one to make a few submissives wince? lol, so back on topic, I find that the term "training" is quite fitting. With numerous straps for a snug fit, unremovable without help if using small padlocks, the intensity of the feeling for a learning/playing submissive, and the strictness/secure level come together to make it ideal for training. One of the styles used, is the ball trainer gag, and is also perfect for first time users because of the half inch hole drilled into the mouthpiece. Thats really useful for helping ease the submissives own worries about breathing, if any of course... Just my thoughts. Regards to each of you!
