MLskajira -> blood blisters (9/6/2006 4:22:51 PM)

this girl recently had a session with her Master where He used a piece of cut cane and a riding crop and left a nasty looking blood blister. He told this girl she would probably have to care for it, but this one has no idea how to do that.
 can anyone help?

Wikipedia entry : http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Blood_blister

I've tried looking for other info as well but thats the best I've found so far.  If I manage to come across anything else I'll be sure to post it.

Ok, ok... I admit it; I'm a research geek!

I just leave them alone and keep them clean.

I had some blisters from bondage, but they were not blood filled.  I kept them clean and did nothing else to them.  They healed on their own.

That looks a lot like a hematoma.  I believe they told us you leave them alone.  They also take much longer to heal than a normal bruise...like a month or so.

Myself though, if mine looked as good and as isolated as the photo on wikipedia I'd probably puncture it myself.  Though, probably not a good idea all in all.
Yet the pain would sure dissipate faster.

When I have played hard with canes or other more sturdy instruments I seem to get those blisters about three days after I play. I usually put neosporin on them after I get out of the shower. I rub them with the palm of my hand to help spread the blood out of them, and there's the herbal remedys  arnica, chamomile, lavender, Saint-John’s-wort  that help the bruising go away faster.
I'd also recommend that impact play on top of that area till the bruises are gone is not a wise thing. Bruises on top of others tend to leave you more open to getting blood clots.

this girl would like to thank everyone for their advice. leaving it alone was what she thought she should do, not to mention that it is in an area that is difficult for this girl to reach. she has been soaking in a tub of warm water, epsome salts and powdered milk and that has helped.
again, thank you.

I have been told hot water on play bruises is not so recommended. Ice is prefered to relieve the swelling. I honeslty have not found this in books so it's a wing it answer again at best, but it's what I think is the advice that made sense to me.

It will eventually reabsorb into the body.  Don't break it.  You can apply ice if it's painful for the first 24-48 hours, then heat to encourage reabsorption.  Topical arnica gel or a goldenseal root paste might help holistically.

An aside: What's with dominants who damage their property and don't instruct the subject on how to take care of themselves afterward?

Candlescandles -> RE: blood blisters (9/8/2006 11:44:10 PM)

Thank you MisPandora!!  I wanted to say that and you beat me to it.  If you dom doesn't know how to take care of what he inflicts, then he has no business inflicting it!!!!  That is not safe play.

thank Y/you for Y/your input.
Master is new, but fairly skilled, and this girl usually knows enough to care for herself and give her Master information He needs.
it works for U/us.
