As I was reading through the post on this board I saw one from a young lady looking for training for herself and her girlfriend. well I am in the same boat, sort of. Where I dont have a girlfriend & am new to this lifestyle, at this point I can sonly say that I have read a lot of materrial on the subject, and spoken to a few people I know of that are in the lifestyle. Some of them suggest me becoming a sub 1st to understand the full meaning of it, whereas some offer no help. I would love some advice or some help if at all possible.

Becoming a sub first is one approach. It depends on how comfortable you are with the idea. It's not how it HAS to be done...and often isn't anymore. The best advice I can give is to find a real time group where you can learn from other people who are doing and behaving in ways that appeal to you. Most people are flattered if you approach them and say, "I really like what you're doing when you do X. Can you show me or talk to me about it?" Here's a listing of VA groups:

Dear tayjon, Ladies and Gentlemen;

I see that Master FireMaam has given you the MaST group in Hampton Roads, Virginia. It will be my first pick over other groups in the Tidewater area.

You may also look into Richmond, Virginia groups and Charlottesville, Virginia group called CUFF. It has been my personal experience that CUFF offers more social dungeon parties and at times CUFF members, in addition to Richmond's and Tidewater's area people come into Washington, DC to participate at the dungeon establishment known as The Crucible. There, you will have helpful individuals participate in helping you and Leather Bob Grimes (featured in the back of Screw the Roses, Give me the thorns) has a vendor spot there so, he would be able to help you as far as equipment goes and for a really good price. Black Rose, the DC based support and education group often has workshops at The Crucible several hours before it opens into a dungeon to the public or members only time. So, what you learn you might be able to practice right away.
