For anyone interested in either being one, or using the system, there is a group that will volunteer to do safecalls for you (or you can volunteer for others). This is a Nationwide (USA) group.

I urge those of you looking for people in the lifestyle who are not necessarily OUT in the communities to check into this, and it would be wonderful also for seasoned people to volunteer. Depending on your location, chances are you will only be called upon once or twice a year.

How exactly do they work?  Would the police actually take a call seriously from a stranger you met through a yahoo group who went on another date with someone they met online and hasn't called you in a few hours?

Safecalls only let people know where to find the body quicker.

With the safecall network... we encourage people to get and share pertinent information with someone else regarding the person they are meeting. A full name, photo or several, an address... a LAND LINE phone number that can be called and has been prior to a meeting, a work number, references, what that person will be wearing, what you will be wearing, etc.

There is a folder for each state as well as D.C. in the group with information for who is available within that state to be a safecall. We would encourage you to look for a someone to be your safecall that resides near where your meeting will be held in case that person needs you to travel to them.

Realistically, there are more men in the scene then women. Chances are, if a safe call is ever needed it is the woman that would need it, although there are cases of course that a male may become at risk.

Since men are usually trying to get the attention of the ladies, they are more apt to give anything within reason to the ladies to assure that they feel comfortable and safe enough to meet with them.

I do realize that it is up to each individual to assure their own health and safety and that Safecall Network can only be an aid, not an answer.  Common sense should always prevail when setting up a meeting with anyone.

Regards,
