i am a seller of adult goodies, and Japanese dripping candles have just become available here (AU), they come in a pack of 3 and are quite thick, colours are balck, red and purple. The RRP is $19.95. i would think they would be available elsewhere in the world. i unfortunately cannot give you a recommendation as Master hasnt tested them on me...... yet!

Yeah, you have to wait a good half hour after lighting a novena candle before playing with it. And yes you have to light 4 or 5 just to have enough wax melted at any one time to keep the scene going. But for pure performance value, a scene that involves dripping wax from lit candles is just so much more aestheticaly pleasing (at least to my eyes) than anything done with bulk melted wax.

I agree with this. I find 'crock pot and ladle' wax too 'production' for me. That's certainly not to say that there's anything wrong with it. I like the control I have with the candle vs. the other methods as well.

I do have a question about prep. Do you have bottoms put lotion on before the scene in order for easier removal? I think shaving is necessary (can't wait to try the new straight razor out ~grin~) sometimes, but I'm curious to hear what other people use for wax play prep.

I have a little bottle of baby oil that goes in my toy case. I love applying the oil before I do a waxing, and I never let the bottom put it on herself (that would take away far too much of my fun.)

As far as shaving goes, I tend to try to avoid heavily forested areas, or have the sub shave them herself before the scene. Though, once we get our razors (which are on the way!!!), the entire shaving scene could be quite a thrill!

You may start out using soy candles. Soy burns at a lower temperature than other candles. You can actually stick your finger into the melted soywax when the candle is burning without getting burned. And the melted wax is an excellent skin moisturizer.

Definately the Novena candles. These are perfect for wax play, come in a number of colors (including layered colors), and are soooo inexpensive. (You can get them in clear glass, so you don't *have* to have a picture of the face of Jesus on them if you don't want to.) I think we get them for something like $1.47 at our local grocery store in the ethnic foods isle. The tall glass container doesn't get too heated until you get near the bottom of it.

We use leather scented (or Drakkar scented) candles for atmosphere and the Novena candles for play.

Also, you can pick up the thin plastic sheets (used for protecting the floor or furniture from paint) very inexpensively at Home Depot, Lowes, etc. I think they also run around $1.50, so when finished, you can just toss them in the trash. I get chilled pretty easily, and these seem to conform more to the room temperature and body temperature more so than regular plastic sheets...possibly because they are so thin.

If you are going to use old sheets, be sure to protect the mattress underneath. Colored candles will stain through a regular cotton sheet.

Have fun :)

best regards,
fate

I'm a relative novice to wax play, but thought it worth sharing my experiences. I've gotten the most pleasure out of sessions where there are two people applying the wax. One using a paraffin candle and the other using a laddle with wax from a wax warmer. The randomness from having two people doing the applying and the different sensations from drops from the candle and "splashes" of wax from the laddle have made for some physically and mentally intense sessions. Each application effects me differently. The random mixture is just great.

To cut down on the mess, we use plastic paint drop clothes that have a paper backing. Home Depot has them in packs of two 9'x12' sheets. They are relatively cheap, give good coverage, and make cleanup a breeze.

Hope sharing my experience helps someone in pursuing hot wax play. The preparation and wax reserach is well worth the trouble.

There is something to be said for both the flame and the crock pot.

I like the effect of the flame as much as having lots of wax to use.

I use baby oil before putting it on bare skin, shaving is good...but that means no fun pulling wax off pubies...lol

I use a piece of plastic on the floor, wax doesnt always stick to it so you can just shake it off to reuse, whereas with a sheet it sinks in and the colors may bleed through.

I have never seen a colored candle stain skin, everything but the skin, lol.

Using ice to remove wax works well if it gets somewhere you dont want.

My preferred method of wax play involves plastic wrapping 1st...then I drip it on the plastic...the heat transfers through and the wax doesnt stick to the skin.

Tea lights. Yes, those little bity candles in the metal cups. I commonly see bags of 100 for seven bucks at Big Lots. Unlike a Jesus candle, you don't let them melt down before dripping. You light it and start dripping right away. The only problem is sometimes if you take the candle out of the cup, there's a small metal piece on the bottom of the wick, if so, the metal piece needs removed so it doesn't fall on your bottom while it's nice and hot.

I damned near ran away the first time somebody lit one to drip on me. I was sure it was going to burn me. Turns out, it's only a slight bit hotter than a Jesus candle. And no waiting for it to melt. Just lite it, then tip and let it drip. Instant gratification for wax fiends.

Another thing I've not seen mentioned is the emergency candles that come in a box of 6 or so. They're quite a bit warmer than Jesus candles and even tea lights. For me, I need to warm up with the milder candles first and the utility candles are as hot as I can deal with. But I do enjoy the added intensity.

I agree. There is just something much more erotic about a burning candle.

I don't put any lotion on beforehand.. As for prep.. a good flogger is used <weg>
Sir waxed me yesturday for my b-day and it was awsome... he used reg candles, red and blue (with wicks) and then one big candle in a jar that he set on a cup warmer to melt... mmmmmm..... lots of wax... and hot enough to get the burn but not the BURNS. We used a knife for removal (sliding just between skin and wax)...
We use, what we call the waxing blanket.. It is a blanket that is old, to cover the bed, so we don't get wax everywhere...

Soy wax, sounds nice when I want to be nice. Anyways my favorite technique is to buy the long tubular candles in the cylinder glass.

I then boil a pot of water and put the candles in to melt. Leaves plenty of hot wax to play with as you don't burn the wick and cause any of the wax to evaporate or spill to where you can't use it.

WOW FnF,
THAT made my sadistic streak sit up and take notice..<grin>
