I've often wanted to ask - why choose an avatar of a body other than your own? I mean, they are beautiful avatars, but ... if you don't want to put your own face up, maybe choose an icon or a fairy or something. We are sort of having "conversations" here, and it's like talking to someone with a mask on.

What is really strange is when two people use the same one and you have come to associate one with a certain person. It’s like twins but without the closeness. What do people notice more the picture or the text?

I notice the picture first, hence my disorientation with it. Particularly the person using the partial pic of Autumn from Sub-Shop.com - that's a real person I have met, not a faceless avatar drawing, so it throws me when I see it used by someone who is not her!
