I have a question for the other “little girls” on here. I have read many posts where women say that they have chosen as Daddy’s men who are “smarter” than they are. For any who have done this, I guess I have to ask - why do you assume you aren’t smart? (Or why do you assume he’s smarter?)

My daddy is a very intelligent man because I prefer very intelligent men. But I’m also very intelligent myself and I never feel like he is smarter than I am. He may know more about certain topics than I do, but the same is true in reverse, so it balances out. I would never want to be with a man who I felt dumb around, so I’m wondering why other women would seek that out.

Any comments or discussion welcome. This has puzzled me for awhile.

I agree with you SoquilisGirl. My Daddy is very intelligent and does have more education than I. That doesn't mean he is smarter than me in all areas of life. In some areas I am smarter than he is. We balance each other out nicely and I don't feel inferior. Well, except when he uses those big words of his. You know how retired English professors can be?

In order to feel properly dominated, many subs need someone who IS superior to them, physically and mentally.  I have a theory that many subs subconsciously choose smarter doms in order to fulfill the fantasy idea that "he always knows better than I do."

And the reality is that there are dumb and stupid subs out there.

Which explains why predators and wannabe's still get more than their fair share of the action.

there are dumb and stupid people out there period. Doms, switches, subs..etc. My dom is extremely intelligent. But smarter than me? I would say that we have gifts in different areas. I'm much better with people, and i have a photographic memory. He is very book smart and enjoy learning from that way.  I would say together we enhance each other quite well. He learns things from me...and i learn things from him.

I think subs long for intelligent Doms because they want their life enriched and hope that he can help guide them with that.  And it's easy to look up to an intelligent person, not so much with a dummy.  I think in their dynamic the Dom is teaching them new things, not making them feel dumb.

If you ask people if they are better than average drivers, about 75% will say yes. Since only 50% can be better than average, that means 25% of the respondents are deluding themselves.

You'll see the same or maybe even more overconfidence when asking people if they are smart; we'll probably even see it in this thread. So even the dummies will think they have smart doms even if he is just as dumb as she is.

And that's the way things work out. People will pair up with someone who is over some base threshold of intelligence so they seem "smart"; however, they also eliminate potential mates whose intelligence is too high because they don't want to feel dumb themselves. That's why we should see nothing but "my dom is smart and I am too" replies here, even from the dummies.

*laughs* Good point, HP. My parteners have always been close to me in intelligence but I'm sure there are much more "brilliant" people than us out there. (I did actually date a rocket scientist for awhile. That ended badly. So maybe smarts aren't everything.) ;)

*smiles* Ooh, lucky you. I always had crushes on my English teachers in junior high and high school. (Not so much on my professors, but most of them were female.)

Hi amuzing,
Yes, this is how I feel too. Daddy wants me to learn things he is into (like martial arts) and I'm trying to teach him to enjoy cooking and dancing. The cooking part may be a lost cause, but he is attending tango lessons with me, so at least he's making an effort. When those classes end we're going to find a tai chi class.

Hmmmm.....

Well, He IS a doctor twice over, and a professor, and a few other things....

BUT it drives Him insane that I usually beat Him at Scrabble!!

It's not something I think about often, because I've always been attracted to very intelligent men.  But then again, every once in a while I 'google' Him, and...that usually reminds me how VERY intelligent He really is...and helps me find a very subbie space.

i also can relate to this issue, from both POV's, thinking i am less smart, and KNOWING i make up for it in other areas.

When i first met D, He was a PhD student for computer science, meanwhile i am drudging through my assoc for horticulture, an i almost didnt want to meet Him, i was SCARED to be honest, of potentially how much smarter than me He is.

i have confided these fears to Him since, and He made me realize, yes, He may be more wordly, and can write binary code, but He cant ID every plant on the street, cant tell you what bug ate that plant and be able to make a garden grow and flourish.

He has started helping me though, feel more classy and up on His level, i am his sous chef and i help prepare every meal, so i can learn how to cook [grew up with my dad and my brother, while i can bake a mean pumkin pie, there wasnt to much real cooking] and i also have to learn a new word every day, next week i am being quizzed on table setting for a 5 course meal.

But yes, having such a strong, smart, intelligent Master, really does help feed my submissive nature, but i no longer believe myself more dumb than He.

When I met Loki, I knew he was at least as intelligent as I consider myself to be.  9 years on, I know now that he is much more intelligent on certain subjects and vice versa.  I am definitely the type of person that needs someone I can't outsmart if they are going to be dominant with me, but I feel that knowing which tactic I may try to get my way doesn't really equate to a certain "type" (i.e. book, street...) of smart.
