I am looking for anything that will curb this nausea.  I believe it's a function of pms or hormones.  It's like being pregnant with morning sickness.  It comes it waves, it is not constant.  Are there any home remedies that anyone can recommend?

argh

Eastern/natural solution= candied ginger root,or capsules.
Western/American solution=scopalamine patches for car sickness.
Also, if it gets worse or persists, see a doctor. They will find out WHY its happening, plus they can inject fast acting phenergan. Good luck!

You could try something with peppermint or ginger in it.  Most grocery stores carry some kind of tea with peppermint in it.

I deal with nausea oh... about every single minute of the day... When it gets really bad I have a peppermint/ginger tea that usually helps.  I've managed to find one that (to me anyway) tastes really good so I don't mind drinking it.  Of course if you can't stand the taste of whatever tea you pick up, that makes it tough since you really want to brew it strong.   Most stores don't stock the particular flavor, but if you'd like to know what it is, feel free to mail me on the other side and I'll give you the name & brand.

For those who don't often brew tea (or never really learned how to make a decent cup... the key to strength is the amount of leaves not the amount of seep time  When you seep a bag(s) for too long you tend to bring the bitterness out of it.)  So if you do pick up some peppermint tea bags, use 2-3 for the size of a normal cup and let it seep for about 5 minutes.

I can't stand tea (unless it's iced tea), but I am desperate for a cure that will not have me popping pills (I'm already medicated for allergies/asthma and osteoporsis don't want to put another 'script in my body).  So I will probably give the tea a try.

Make peppermint iced tea :)

I do, and it's quite delicious.

I am glad you posed the nausea question though, as I suffer this as well.

Ginger snaps and ginger ale with real ginger in it.  The old standby of soda crackers is good, too.

Sure you aren't pregnant?

Oh my, no on the preggers, took care of that years ago, I think it's hormonal.  I've noticed it that past few months.  It's the same sort of nausea I got when I was in my teens.

I had it 'taken care of' four years ago. I've had 5 pregnancies (including now) since *chuckles* I just can't carry past 6 weeks, so someone who doesn't track cycles may not even notice.

I'd get it checked out anyhow. Something's going on.

Sincerely
Silver

Drink more water before you think you'll get hormonal and eat some crackers a few minutes before you actually get up and out of bed.  These aren't perfect, but might be worth a try.

Oh and don't let your blood sugar go crazy- have lots of snacks through the day and small meals including some carbs, protein, and a bit of fat since the problem might be your body not processing the rush of hormones as quickly.

And if it gets bad enough, talk to a doctor about anti-nausea meds.

Katy, please do go and talk to your doctor about the nausea if it continues for too long.  I finally went to my doctor earlier this year after a few months of nausea which I had put down to stress or hormones - turned out I had a benign tumour on my liver.  I had to have a little over 70% of my liver removed (which has now fully regenerated) and 6 months down the track I am back at work and feeling a million times better than I was before.
I was also told by others to try ginger and peppermint and found that I really liked the taste of peppermint tea once it had cooled down.  I also cut back on milk and rich foods as they would increase the sick feeling, rice crackers became my best friend!
all the best, hope it settles down soon

edited to add - damn, I hope my story doesn't scare you, I just hope you have or will get it checked out if it goes on for much longer.

wandersalone - I am sorry to hear about what you went through.  I am glad you are mending well.  The body is an awesome thing, even when it's sick and must heal.

I'm not worried that anything major is going on.  I was subjected to tons of tests in May, including ct scan and cancer antigen bloodwork, because I had two masses (non cancerous) in my colon.  That was enough of a scare for me.  I think this is hormonal related because it happens during pms and menstruation, never at any other time.

you could try queasy pops which you can order at online retailers like:  http://www.threelollies.com/
Or preggie pops which are pretty much the same and can be found at most maternity stores.
